I need to have an extraction and my last prolia injection was November 2018. My dentist has given me the name of a oral surgeon as he doesn't want to take the risk of my jaw not healing. Has anyone had this type of Surgery.

Dental extraction and prolia
I had 2 injections and my Rheumy stopped the medication. I was also taken off mtx due to side effects.
Best to ask Rheumatology. Or whoever prescribed Prolia; it is for osteoporosis?
A simple extraction is not as invasive as eg implants that require drilling into the bone. Best of luck finding advice from professionals. 🙂
Thank you, I am seeing my new Rheumy on the 11th, I still have my original Rheumatologist but I haven't seen her for over a year, tried to make an appt but never heard back since I started the new 6 month infusions. My next set of infusions start in November. My new rheumy works from my doctors clinic which is closer to home. Because I wasn't sure if the new infusion was working or if the prolia injection was the cause, I haven't had a second prolia injection which now hopefully the oral surgeon will extract the broken tooth, then I will decide if to continue with Prolia once the healing is complete hopefully from the extraction.
Thank you for your response, take care, Sue
Best of luck with that, Sue. Sounds more invasive than simple extraction of a whole tooth. 🙂
Hi, I had the extraction done by a very nice dental surgeon and it went well. The gum is still soft but looks like it is healing well. I still haven't had another Prolia injection, my family doctor said she feels I should have another injection but not until my mouth is fully healed and I have had a full dental check up due to the fact I have had several falls.
Thank you for all your responses.
Take care, Sue xx
