Hey I have been taking Mtx for many years now with all the side effects we all endure. About a year ago my joint pain were so bad I was ready for 'Beachyhead'. I had been taking a Statin for that period and, just by chance, I spoke with someone also on it who told me he was experiencing joint pains, just what reumy folk want. Stopped the statin and my and my pain improved by 20% and my grumpiness improved according to my wife.
Thought some folk might find this interesting.

This Is quite a common occurrence ....if you speak to the person who prescribed your statins they can change the type you were given. This happened to me ....as soon as I was changed from one type to another the aches & pains disappeared & my cholesterol levels remain in norma ,limits.
I also stopped after less than a year due to aches and pains - mainly muscular. My elder brother became positively homicidal on them just after day 3 or 4 so he stoped them and tried again with a lower dose and had the same effect after about a week - it was a really weird response! My eldest sister swears by hers and has less issues re angina with them! Same gene pool different responses 🤔
Yes thanks for that. What I didn't say was that my wife was also on the same Statin and over the year we became more tetchy with each other which was not us. We both stopped within a month and we both felt as though a cloud had passed. Tell a Medic that and they just laugh.
The pain I had on my first statin was the more usual muscle pain, specifically upper arm up to & including my shoulders. I discussed it with my GP & the statin was changed & I haven't had any problems since.
I hope this helps & that you talked to your GP too. Stopping necessary statins (obviously, doh, they wouldn't have been prescribed if they weren't necessary) isn't the best thing to do without having another type ready to swap over to. With having RD we need to do all we can to prevent cardio problems, we're in the higher risk category.
