How would you describe joint pain ?

Hello lovelies

I haven’t posted for a little while .

I guess we all have different levels of tolerating pain . I guess we all describe our pain differently .

Well for the last week I have felt my hip and knee needs a good old crack - or pop . When you get that urge sometimes to click your joint ?

Well this is how I am describing my pain , it’s becoming intolerable right there in my hip and knee . I feel my backside is a mile behind me as I can’t walk straight ☹️

Gradually getting worse what do you do ?

I’m actually fasting for as long in the day as I can . To heal my body from inflammation not for religious purposes I’ve been doing it a couple of months now .

So taking NSARDs is a no go during my fasting window as o made that mistake a couple of weeks ago the consequences weren’t nice 🤢

So how would you describe your joint pain . X

I have no pain when not moving. Not good since very seductive not to move. If I don't move on the otherhand the pain with moving gets worse.:(

I’m still in pain while I sit . I’m struggling to get this under control . I keep convincing myself it will go away .....soon

an achy bastard.................have clicking joints, sore muscles, achy bits, stiff knees when getting up.....nothing seems to help............... :-(

Sorry bad day today !

in reply to Rubyroo1

That’s fine your entitled to your shout that’s why we’re here . Think I should rephrase the question actually to what does the pain feel like ? Like you stub your toe it’s like a thud ! Or you cut your skin it’s kind of sharp .

Have you investigated bursitis in your hip?

I have it & it affects my knee...I'm just investigating a steroid injection,

Rubyroo1 profile image

Mixture of both really. Dull aches mainly, than sharp pains sometimes like someone is poking you with a needle/knife, and pain in knees when walking up and downstairs - sharp at times. With achy muscles at the back of my knees and really heavy legs like someone has strapped heavy weights to them. I have been to the docs this morning and been given Tramadol and some sleeping pills which will hopefully make me less grumpy with less overall pain. Finger crossed !

My left hips giving me a bit a kip at the moment and when exercising and in bed at night it can be a bit sore if I’m in the same position for a length off time, plus my knees crack all the time

Am I allowed to swear? Just kidding, but pain does make me want to cuss.

The worst pain is when I've gone on a bit of a coddiwomple, and my knee decides it's time to make my life a misery. Hard to explain that pain. Similar to being torn with a hot saw (I suspect). Piggin hurts! Usually I'm miles from anywhere. I swear my knee waits for such an opportunity.

Off topic I know but where does "coddiwomple" come from? It sounds Dickensian for a peregrination

in reply to Gnarli

Not sure Gnarli. I just love the word. I'll look it up. 😁

It is a good one. I may have to appropriate that one

What a great word, I've never heard it before, but love it ! According to Google ..........."The definition of coddiwomple is “to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination”. Coddiwomple is an English slang word "

Hi I suffer from pain in my hip and I'm seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis. He manipulates my spine and I always leave feeling light as a feather and with certainly less pain. So it might help you

Different ways: Burning, or stinging = inflammatory.

Aching = wear and tear, maybe?

Pain is notoriously difficult to describe to others because it is so subjective ad personal.

As if someone has filled the affected joint with red-hot burning glass and acid. The muscles around the joint join in by going rock hard, inflexible and agonising. Massage makes things worse. Post flare the pain subsides into a dull grinding and throbbing. Does that help?

sjhewitt42 profile image

Ditto the burning and feeling like I’ve been beaten up or hit with a hammer. Grinding and throbbing also true. x

I can't 'like' your reply 'cos it's so horrible when it happens. I do hope things improve for you. Massive hugs

in reply to Gnarli

Yes I get that . I define mine today as been like you want to click it into place the pain is quite something . It’s knocked me off my feet literally yesterday and today think this is stemming from 3 falls I had the other week just been building up to now crippled me

Three falls! Oh my that sounds awful. I do hope you feel better very soon

Yes 3 . Blooming shook me up too .

Good description Gnarli fits my symptoms perfectly. At the moment my feet knees hips & hands feel like they’re on fire at night. Very painful 😖 too. Not sleeping at all well, can’t take painkillers 😞

I'm truly sad that you are having all this pain and distress and I wish you weren't too. Thank you for your kind response. I'm very flattered and will do my best to find something interesting to post again soon. Someone once said we all have a book in us.

Yes I have heatd that also. You could give it a go. My father and uncle both had written a book / play. Uncle had his performed on radio 4 years ago. Go for it. Im improving as the present flare subsides, but thank you. It as you described the pain exactly, but as I say not so bad now. I shall look forward to reading your expositions to come 🙂

Morning Caza So sorry about your burning, but relieved to here some one else gets that burning when they get into bed , I think I’m going mad the burning so bad it’s like someone has poured boiling water over me , I really don’t know how to explain it , like you I wake up feeling like I have not slept, thank God I retired, but I do volunteer at a school , taking our Golden Retriever in for reluctant readers to read to also help with tuck shop

Managing the accounts. I have terrible time making myself go, as I feel so rubbish, mostly I make myself go , if I really can’t my husband goes, life is so cruel . Wishing for a magical cure, thank you for listening to my moaning , wishing you a better day love Elizabeth x

Life can be so cruel sometimes. However, you haven't given up and are still an active and important part of your community. You are an example to us all

I have acute sharp pain in my toes, like a needle being thrust into them, fortunately it doesn't last long, a few hours maybe. The pain can be hot sometimes.

My hands burn hot , it's a chronic pain, but is somewhat relieved by ice packs /cold water.

My neck and shoulders ache, like a persistent toothache.

Knees tend to grind and crunch, but have been feeling hot recently.

Not moving helps initially, but sitting too long also makes things worse, movung too much also makes things worse, like everything it is a balance between moving and sitting

Thanks all for sharing . I try and convince myself I’m not suffering and maybe it just needs to click on place . But the reality is I’ve got excruciating hip and knee pain 🥺

reikimaster, sorry to hear you are going through this pain it is horrible. I am riddled with Arthritis & in pain 24/7 365 days....or maybe was:) I am 55 yet been feeling more like 85 a lot of the time:( Going by your name I decided to post this as I feel that you would be more than open to this. BTW yes fasting is so good for us & I try to do it regularly. On Monday I had some healing done by a lady who is a Healer/Psychic & does it through Light Language....for those not aware of this it is a universal language which is the root of all languages (spiritual) & is done through toning, singing etc....it is a bit strange if you haven't seen it before. Now since Monday I have been feeling so much lighter with more mobility & almost no pain just the odd twinge....this morning no pain:) Oh & more energy, I was suffering with fatigue due to the pain:( I have this morning just managed to walk my dog without any pain which is a first for a long time & he is a Beagle which are hard work at the best of times....my Arthritis kicked in approximately 9-10 years ago. The session did cost £135 (I had a reading too but is cheaper just for the healing) but I have spent so much more on trying numerous things to ease the pain as painkillers do practically nothing for me & I was getting to the stage that I didn't know if I could go on anymore with the pain....I was a shell of myself. I have fought for years to have a Scan/MRI to be told by Dr's we don't do those anymore:( So I was sent to Physio which did nothing. Eventually, Physio referred me to another Physio specialist who has the authority to send you for an MRI & my appointment with the Physio is next month. I just got my PIP decision back which was declined (which I hopefully won't be needing to appeal:) even though I could hardly walk but was told by DWP my report said I could walk for 10 minutes so I could more than do the 200m without pain or stopping. What I told the assessor was that I could walk to the end of my road with stopping due to pain & probably would take 10-15 minutes maybe longer:( which normally should only take about a minute. It has also given me the ability to start exercising which I couldn't do before due to the pain. Day 2 no pain and hopefully DWP free:) I'll keep you posted but for anyone interested her name is Marlene Cronin who has a website called 'The Spirit Seer' & she also has a Facebook page under her name.

Very interesting post,.. I've had healing.. Didn't do much for pain.. But like you said, the lightness and positivity was amazing.. Which helped me cope with the pain.

Think I need some of that again! Will look into your lady but probably too far from me. Xx

Me again.. Have pm'd you, re your healing. Very interested in learning a little more xxxxx

in reply to Coco54

Wow . Think your talking about a sound bath here . There’s a lot of healing techniques from Reflexology on hands or feet to Aura cleansing , meditation & crystal healing . Energy healing . Fasting which gives our bodies a rest from digesting food to actual healing and reducing inflammation but it has to be clean fasting for 16 hours with an 8 hour open widow to eat what ever you want . Obviously nutritious food recommended. I’ve been vegetarian for 46 years 💜

I will check out this ladies website thank you x

Hi reikimaster.. (bytheway.. Love the name. Do you practice!?)

Much of my pain is from joint damage, rather than flares, as am lucky to be on good meds and if I do flare my rheumy team get me in straight away for a big fat steroid jab in the bum, which is my little miracle worker.. Anyway back to the pain..

So, having had JIA /RA for nrly 35 Yrs, I have a lot of damage.. So my name for how I am is creakiness! . I do get really creaky sometimes.. Until I look like an extra in walking dead lol.

Its my nicer name for pain, as I do try to put a brave face on!

Take care!

Xx
