hi everyone I’m still panicking about taking my statin, been prescribed 10mg atorvastatin daily .geared myself up to take them (bit of a wimp with medication🤦♀️) pharmacist said to discuss with doctor before taking them as can cause some sort of toxicity when on methotrexate, and may need more frequent blood tests
Doctor knows I’m on methotrexate so sure it should be ok.anyone else on this combination.
thanks

I started 10mg Atorvastatin with methotrexate injections last August and I have had no problems, I take mine at night before bed and that seems to be the best time.
I'm on Rosuvastatin 20 mg and Methotrexate 20 mg subcutaneously and I also have known mild-moderate ongoing liver issues. No problems in the last 2 years.
I’m on 20mg rosuvastatin and 25mg MTX with no issues. Been taking both together for 4yrs.
I would have thought the toxicity issue would apply to the much higher doses of MTX that is used for cancer patients, where they can be on >500mg. You are monitored closely whilst taking them so any issues they can stop them.
As for the above respondents, I have been taking 10mg Atorvastatin + MTX injections for some years without ill effects. In fact, statins seem to be a wonder drug from reports in the press, etc.
Ditto to all the responses so far. I have been on 80mg Atorvastatin and 20 mg MTX injections for the last 6 years with no problems. I have blood tests every 3 months. Don’t worry.
Yes Gladjake I am on 10mgs methotrexate and Benapali 50mgs once a week. My GP put me on Avorstatins 20mgs last year. I have never been checked since to see if this is okay. I do have regular bloodtests however. I now have irregular heartbeat and nosebleeds. I do not know if these meds are the cause. Or if it is my rheumatoid getting worse. I am trying to contact my consultant or Specialist Nurse so I can discuss this. I am still waiting for them to contact me.
