I have no idea if this is connected to R.A. or not, but for some years now, I have been having experiences of dizziness off and on. The first time I was given some tablets called Stematol and although they helped with the dizziness, I couldn't take them because they made my restless legs even worse and I was nearly going mad with them. On a later time, I was given some exercises to do to clear it as I had it explained to me that sometimes the liquid in the ear gets too thick and makes little crystals and doing these head moving exercises clears them up. This was very time consuming but it worked.
Recently it has started up again, but in a worse way. Every time I lean back or look downwards I get really dizzy and it lasts for probably about half a minute. I have seen my GP about it and was given some different tablets to try. They made me feel sick and drowsy so I had to stop taking them. I saw the doctor again on Thursday and she said that there were no other tablets I could take for it and she is now referring me to an ENT specialist but it won't be until late October and I am waiting for an operation anyway so that may stop me going to the ENT doctor depending on when the op is.
I know people on here are not doctors but I just wondered if anyone else has had anything like this and what they have done for it.
Yes i have started getting both dussy and shaking fits. Am gojng t the GP end of this month.trying t get t see her is a nightmare ss she is really good. So hope she will have some insight into the problems
It really is horrible isn't it? I also have a problem with my hands shaking and was checked by a neurologist to see if I have Parkinsons, but I don't thank goodness. He said it was an "Essential Tremour or Unknown Cause". I have tried two different kinds of tablets for it but couldn't tolerate either of them. He said that in some cases they insert something into the brain, but I certainly don't fancy that. I hope things go ok for you and that your GP can tell you more about it.
Thank you Jora, I have just read your post and it all sounds extremely unpleasant and worrying. I really feel for you and would be interesting in what your rheumy says to you about it all. I have degenerative disc disease so it does make me wonder if that would be a similar thing happening in my neck now. I have so many conditions that it is hard to sort out one from another. I will just have to wait until I get the appointment now.
I'm 68 Jora butin my mind I still feel about 18 and I hope to live on many years yet and I hope you do as well. I don't know if it is usual to live about the same life span as our parents. In my case my mum only lived to be 78 and my dad went on until he was 91 so I have no idea where that would put me, although I do know that I have much poorer health that either of them.
Well, of course, none of us knows when we will die, thank goodness. But I have read that all other things being equal, you can expect to live 5 years longer than your respective parent - i.e. you mother. Mine died at 94, but I'm not expecting to last that long. When I was diagnosed, last Sept, with Fibrosis, I was told 2-5 years.
I feel young too. I would write more, but I must continue with my objection to the development opposite. Till soon .... Jo
I have dizziness also as did my mother who also had R.A. I’m unsure if they are connected but I’ve noticed a worsening of the issue during the hot, humid summer months when pressure changes are common. I take allergy pills with a decongestant when it gets unbearable and they help. Sometimes motion sickness tabs help too. I hope you get some answers.
