I was diagnosed with RA over a year ago and thankfully it’s now under control and I havent had any flares for some months now. But I have just noticed a couple of nodules on my hand and wrist.
Does anyone know if that means my medication is not working? Or will I keep getting nodules?
They’re not sore just a little unsightly.
Thanks.

Odd things are nodules..like women they can be very unpredictable. I've had what was a fairly large one on my elbow for about 12 years. It developed to max size when my RA was well controlled, but some 2+ years ago, when my RA was not well controlled, it started to shrink and has all but disappeared. I have several small ones on various parts of my body, the most recent is a relatively large one on the back of my hand, which unlike the one on my elbow does trouble me on times, plus a small one on my lung. The former, and probably the latter as well, developed when my RA was poorly controlled and yet the one on my elbow diminished during this period. Go figure! to use a popular Americanism.
Do you happen to be seropositive by any chance? I have heard that nodules are more common in people with seropositive RA than they are with people who are seronegative.
I've had about 20 different surgeries over the yrs they just come back. No luck. Not painful unless u hit them. Don't know about that seropositive thing never discussed it with ra. U almost give up after awhile. Thanks
I haven't been doing much public venting of late, but have done some with my rheumy nurse and more recently the rheumy secretary over the phone. Waiting to hear back from the secretary after she speaks with the rheumatologist, and who knows the rheumatologist may return the call as astonishing as that would be! I won't be surprised if I don't hear anything tough as there appears very little they can do for me until this current sinus infection clears. Still it would be nice to have some questions answered, or shock of shocks actually be given a date for an appointment, which is something they supposed to have done months ago..........
How's that for a good old vent, or more like a rant you could say. Well I did warn you. hehe
