Is it fibromyalgia?

Good morning! I have RA and IBS and now I am wondering if I have fibromyalgia too. I woke up at 3 am because of severe pain in my left hand and wrist. That subsided and I was able to sleep another 3 hrs and woke up to more severe pain in my right hand and wrist. It is still ongoing now. I already to ibuprophin and gabapenten but I am not feeling any relief. Right hand is also swollen around knuckles. last 2 days I have experience tingling and numbness in my fingers, especially when I crochet. As far as triggers the only think of my leg amputation in November. It feels like my nreves are being sqeezed from the inside. Any opinions on this?

Best see your GP or specialist Nurse or rheumatoid specialist. It isn’t something that you or I can what it is because it can be very tricky to diagnose and dangerous to self diagnose. There are a good lot of sufferers with RA you’ll get lots of support it’s been diagnosed.

Before I changed drugs I went through a bad period where I was waking up every 3 hours or so with similar pain. And I had similar tingling as the inflammation caused swelling which pressed on nerves. It was the RA as now I've changed drugs its completely gone. Tell your medical team as they are the only ones who can say for sure.

I have mentioned this several times to rheumy consultant and his answer is always the same - it makes no difference, RA can be diagnosed acurately, fybro is an "opinion" based on symptoms and your treatment would be no different anyway.

Hope that helps.
