I"v had 2 lots of infusions. I was scared at first as I was unable to tolerate other meditation. I had this idea that an infusion being every six months the side effects would be that length too. I have no issues with rituximab and doing okay. So good luck

I've had infliximab and now rituximab infusions for a very long time. You're very closely monitored (both during the procedure and afterwards). I had a liver problem after infliximab + methotrexate for over ten years but that so far is contained and am presently Ok on rituximab - with regular checks. The medics are very cautious as some of these treatments are very new, but they're becoming very common. I rarely need painkillers, which if you're talking about taking too many pills, would suggest its well worth it!

I've been on retuximab infusions every 6mths for last 6yrs and no adverse affects. Before the infusion starts they check your bloods and urine to make sure all ok.

You'll be fine as you're closely monitored. All the best for your treatment xx

From Maxbella, I have had two infusions, one a year apart. I am like you I do not to take strong meds! I was on methotrexate and folic acid, I stopped taking both, they caused hair loss, finger nails are awful looking and I also have psorisis on my scalp. I stopped taking them. It’s my body and I will keep searching for something to take! Hope this helps

Methotrexate did for my lungs and withdrawal put me back in w/chair - but i recovered 95% of my lung function [swimming n singing at home , badly lol]. last july had my 1st infusion was v nervous, but 2nd infusion was easier, in august [truxima = rituximab bio similar]; my review apptment is on monday and still feeling quite good. hoping for a repeat in july and august. so don't panic, take books, kindle , blankie n treats but low sugar. ps i'm 76 so listen 2me, kiddo xox

Well I have been on MTX I have lung problems, I felt after taking MTX at weekend chest very tight , not taking anymore, know your body when you feel ill it’s telling you it doesn’t agree with me anymore.

If you can let us know which infusion you'll be starting has been discussed with your Rheumy you'll receive specific replies to that biologic. It may help keep things relative to that drug & what you may expect when you start it. I hope whichever it is helps you.
