UCH blood test results

I had some blood taken at UCH over 2 weeks ago and since then I have heard nothing. I’m anxious because they tests for cancer markers. Does anyone have any experience how long UCH normally take to make contact and give results like these? Ps I’m new here

Phone whoever ordered the tests for you - GP or specialist - and ask them to chase. Two weeks should be enough to have the results for most blood tests as it's usually only things where they have to grow cultures that can take longer.

Thanks for thoughts. I think these results are pretty quick from what I can see on line so even less excuse. Horrible feeling waiting - especially for something so serious.

You need to ask the medical professional who ordered them, see if they're back. Some can only take a day, others 7 to 10 working days, that's what you've to work on, it's not a week it's working days. But the person to ask is the one who ordered them. The answer is in what they were for, if it's blood culture they take the longest.

If it was your GP blood tests can be in a few days before he/she looks at them so factor that in. So if you can't get past the Receptionist who says they're in but not checked yet that could well be the case. Sometimes they forget we can be anxious until we know the result, especially if like for you it's longer than we'd like.

Hopefully they'll be in waiting to discuss if you phone next week.
