hi guys, thankyou for the overwhelming amount of replies to my first post about worrying over methotrexate. i just wanted to update everyone who commented & thank them for their reassuring advice
after a few tears and a pep talk from my mum i finally took my first dose over an hour ago. so far i’m not feeling any different (side effects wise) but obviously don’t want to speak too soon as it’s so early on. so i’ll update tomorrow.
thankyou again for all your nice replies. i cant express how happy i am to finally be able to speak to people in the same boat as me and hopefully in a few weeks time i’ll start to see a difference. fingers crossed!!

Please take it & forget it....there is no earthly good sitting waiting daily for "something" to feel different...don't overthink it....sadly nothing with RA meds happens overnight.
Just get on with your life & one day you will realise it's working & you feel better.
Many thousands of people all over the world live good lives on Mtx.Only those who have problems with it comment it doesn't suit them ...the rest just enjoy the benefits ....let's hope you are one of them.
of course. i just wanted to let people know as i’d been advised to keep them updated i know it won’t magically work over night i was just proud i had the courage to take something i was uneasy about. but yeah let’s hope
It's a very successful drug....& you have broken the back of it.....you have succeeded!
What I was trying to say is don't worry over it 24/7...you don't take your next pills until next week.....go out & enjoy yourself....being calm & optimistic is really good medicine for RA.
I started taking Methotrexate 5 months ago, apart from some mouth ulcers (sorted by more folic acid) the only side effects have been, less pain, less stiffness, less inflammation of my joints! I hope the same for you.
Hi Olivia. I started methotrexate last July and I was very worried about the first dose as my consultant advised me to take it late on Friday so that I could cope with the fatigue and nausea by staying in bed over the weekend. I have not had any problems at all so far. Occasionally I get a mild wave of nausea which lasts a couple of minutes but that’s it. I work full time and feel quite well
Hi, I got diagnosed from RA 8 weeks ago. I was exackly like you, I was prescribed 15 mg of Mtx. For 5 days I just I stared at my bottle of Mtx terrified of taking it due to all the information I had read on the side effects of this drug. I really struggled with it however, looking back it makes me laugh! I've only been on it for 3 weeks ( I had to stop after 1 week due to a chest infection and taking antiboiotics) but so far apart from a bit of nausea and tiredness the day after, no other side effects. Im relieved I'm now on my journey of recovery. Having the support from here and others I've spoken to, Mtx really is a great drug to rake for RA. It just takes time and patience . Good luck.
Hello! I just took my first dose of MTX and was wondering how you were doing now that you are a couple of months in taking the medication. Also, I have a panic disorder so I was wondering if it was ok to take xanax very low dose with it or will the medication make me to tired? Since you have tak
I was wondering how you were doing now that you are two months into taking the medication. Also were you given anything for anxiety? I take xanax nightly to help me sleep and was wondering if you had problems if you take anything with the mtx? Are you having any side effects? Pain? I truly hope you are better and I hope it worked for you!
I was just diagnosed with RA formerly just two days ago and see the doctor in two days. I know MTX is going to be the drug he will put me on also and I am also scared. I have advanced COPD as well. I also take Xannax for anxiety and am wondering what the answer will be to the members questions above mine. I am wondering how Oliviagodfreyx is doing now. I hope your doing great Olivia!!!!!!
