Hot Flushes

Hi All,

I am 77 years old, look a lot younger and healthy except for the past year I am experiencing hot flushes day and night. Its horrible. Are there any other senior woman who experience this and if so, what medication do you take.

Hello CynC - Im 71yrs and dont have hot flushes - why ? Can u believe it im still on HRT and fight constantly to stay on it - I belive that something called black cosh ( that could be wrong) helps hot flushes - but my Dr said that when I stop taking HRT she would find out what I could take to stop or help any symptoms eg hot flushes etc so see your Dr - I think a female Dr would be more helpful - take care and let me know if you can what is recommended xx

I have been off HRT for at least 5 years and only in the last year have the hot flushes started. I was keen to go off HRT as it increased the size of my boobs which I really don't like. Hard to find tops that stretch over.

Does HRT increase your boob size ? does this happen only when you get older ? mine have got bigger the last couple of years but thought this was due to old age ???

Yes I do at 71 I just put it down to steroid 7 mg a day plus hydx I was on 10mg but tapered down and hot flashes don't seem as bad but it's not nice 😓

Do you take medications for RD?

Or Vit B3? B3 can cause hot flushes unless taken as niacinamide.

I was a few years post menopausal when doagnosed and about 6 months in I now get terrible hot flushes. Im on a cocktail of meds and put it down to those. I told rheumy and he just dimissed it, was totally uninterested. Its just like it was 10 years ago. Im just 61.

I am on Methotrexate but my Rheumy does not think this is the cause.

I’m 73. Never had hot flashes when I went through meno but have experienced a few in recent months. Thought maybe meds.
