I am a 41 year old single male working a somewhat demanding job. I never sleep very well and lately I'm getting very hot and cranking my A/C up so high just to try to cool off. Then all of a sudden I get very cold. I am not overweight but I have smoked for years and eat fast food for my meals.
Any idea what might be going on?

Go the GP ! if this bothers you and clearly your not menopausal then best to talk to a doctor !
The autoimmune diseases can cause that temperature flux (at least it does to me). I can stand still and drench my shirt from sweat and a while later be piling clothes on to try to stay warm... Talk to the doc and see if there is anything they can do to help..
I've had this for years. It's worse at night, so I have layers and wide open windows so that one minute I can have lots over me and then nothing except a sheet while I soak the bed with sweating. I do the same sort of thing during the day with layers of clothes that can be removed or put back on. I get peculiar looks but who cares.
