Hi Beth,
I had a LTKR on June 21, 2018! Before the surgery my knee was so bad I was walking with a walker! I went in on Thursday for the operation and was home on Friday evening! I had a great surgeon and wonderful nurses and I am proud to say I can walk great and I have my life back! It is definitely worth it! Best wishes to you! Make sure to do what your surgeon and physical therapists tell you! As far as recuperating everyone is different!
I had my second one on the same knee due to having the wrong joint put in,but having said that i had a great surgeon for the second op(gorgeous looking too which helps) I had to see him again due to inflammation but it was caused by the RA,but the good news is my knee is very secure and working well.xxx
I was in for three days for each of my knees. It went well , I did my exercises diligently and I’m sure it helped recovery.
I am waiting for mine to be done, saw surgeon in July, he said it was really in a bad way & that I would get it in 4 months, in early December I got a call to ask if I would have the op done by a registrar,of course I said yes, go for pre op check, was told it couldn’t be done by registrar as knee too damaged! Now looking at April,( if I’m lucky) so in awful pain, life in general on hold, also been told that I will go on waiting list for the 2nd immediately after getting 1st one done!
Hi, I had a knee replacement four weeks ago. I was in hospital for five days. I walk without crutches at home. Doing the exercises regularly despite the pain is very important. I hope to be back at the gym in the weeks time. All the best for your op.
Friend had hers done.she was in longer than planned as she got infection in it.Her grandaughter had to come stay with her when released to help prepare meals etc but now she is up on feet but now darent come out due to icy weather.very sensible thou in last few weeks after op has had walk and is even driving again.it is her second knee op
Had both knees done now. First one done in Dec 2016, second done Feb 2018. In hospital for 4 days for both of them. The 2nd one was more difficult than the first. But well worth having them done as the pain and them giving way all the time was awful.
**You MUST do the exercises before and after surgery though, especially after ** Good luck.
Thank you everyone for your messages 💖
I was in for 3 days after my very successful knee replacement. One thing you should know and that is that the stronger your knee before surgery the better the result will be.
Hi,
I was in hospital for 5 days.
Best decision I made as I have no pain in that knee anymore. I am now needing a replacement for other knee.
I used lots of ice for pain relief afterwards and religiously did my exercises.
Best wishes
Don't worry too much just do what physio tell you and it should be fine I have had both done one in 2007 and one in 2013 first one I was very worried but the second one was easy peasy as I knew what was comeing and I have actually been encouraged to kneel on the floor whilst doing Pilates it felt a little strange but I did it I think your knee will be much stronger now if you stick to the physio. Good Luck 14penny :))
