Hi I do I’m into my thighs it’s feels like just a scratch does not hurt and works a lot better 😊
I was taught to inject into my tum. Just pinch some skin & inject, you shouldn't feel it, maybe a little pin prick, no more. I inject straight after I've showered so I don't use the alcohol swab, it can sting a little for a few seconds.
I read here that some inject MTX into their thigh so tried it, first & last time... it hurt!
Don't forget to inject alternate sides, left one week, right the next. When I get my month's supply I write L or R on the box, saves me wracking my brain trying to remember which side I did the previous week.
This video from the makers of Metoject takes you through it step by step vimeo.com/136832870
I hope you find the transition works well for you.
Can only speak from my experience but genuinely never felt it at all: injected into alternate thighs after shown by nurse, felt less vulnerable than stomach to me. On benepali now so noticed difference: that is a bit stingy x
Yeah been on benepali they took me off that one she said it doesn’t work for me so they have put me on mtx injections once a week and another injection every 2 wks called(kevzara) (sarilumab) I’m the first uk person to try this new medication xxx
Hope it works for you Beth: really didn’t feel MTX; not just being nice honestly 😉
Tummy for me ! Follow directions from nmh.
I usually alternate between stomach and thighs week about
I inject into my thigh with the metoject pen , I honestly don't feel anything. It is a bit of a non event.
Do you have pens or syringes? I felt a tiny scratch when I was using syringes but barely a thing with the pen. I’ve always preferred infecting my tummy as I have plenty of fat when I need to “pinch an inch”!
Good luck with the new meds.
Thanks all I will let you all know how I get on my new meds are getting delivered Tuesday and a health care nurse coming that week to show me what to do can’t wait? I do hope it’s works like they say xxx
I alternate both sides beneath my navel had no problems with this
I’m not on metoject but used to be on a daily injectable drug for my diabetes (Victoza), and always found it best in my tummy - I found it a bit painful in my thighs, but barely felt it in my tum. And I have plenty of inches to pinch so it was easy to vary the sites every day!
Really not sore at all for me I injected methotrexate for many years. Used thighs and tum moving site every week, so many less side effects with the injection! Very best of luck.....
Just did my first one yesterday and took two minutes wasn’t sore. Not long had a hip operation so did in opposite thigh. Good luck you’ve just reminded me to take my folic acid.xx
Hi Beth72 I started injecting into my thighs but found I bruised too much so now I inject into my stomach alternating each week and it's fine now. And it doesn't hurt so you will be fine xx
I find the belly easiest.
Tummy is easier and less painful than anywhere else I find xx
I've been using mthx since 2016 when I was diagnosed. I started out injecting it into my lower stomach, but I have alot of scar tissue there from surgery so I had issues. I talked to my rheumy about it & he told me I could drink the liquid by just adding it to a bit of water. I've been doing that since & it works well. I expected an awful taste, but surprisingly there was no taste at all. Ask your rheumy if that's an option for you.
Does your hair fall out?
I haven't experienced any hair loss yet & I hope I don't.
They have never mentioned that at all to me only tablets or injection tablets made me feel awful sickly and couldn’t eat xxx
It couldn't hurt to ask your Dr. about taking it that way. I was also prescribed to take Ondansetron to help with nausea, but it's never been an issue for me.
I have been doing mtx for 7 week in my tum all good no pain.
I do it on my tummy and does not hurt
I inject Benapali into my stomach and methotrexate into my thighs alternating sides. Stomach is less likely to bruise. Neither hurts more than a slight sting, stomach possibly less stingy. I don't use the alcohol swabs that come with the jags as they cause stinging. A nurse told me that if you bathe or shower regularly they are not necessary.
You will be pleasantly surprised how easy and painless it is.
Hi, I do mine in my thighs, doesn’t hurt, bit stingy afterwards but not painful. But I have friends who inject into their stomach, it’s what suits you best.
Well I start my mtx injection today they have started me on 7.5 mg I hope it doesn’t upset my stomach and feel sick
