Runny Nose

Hi all, up date on the runny nose while on Cimzia. Had to have a ten day course of antibiotics, finished them approx 4weeks ago and I still have the same ongoing problem that is now affecting my sense of smell and taste, looks like another trip to my GP.

Not sure if the Cimzia working yet, as I still have lots of inflamed finger joints, wrists, shoulders, elbow, and muscular leg pains! Also waiting for a

hip operation as that has given up on me now!😫all the pleasures of RA 🤪😜Merry Christmas to you all and stay well xxxx

I'm on Embrel not Cimzia, but also got a runny nose as soon as I started it. 5 months later I still have a runny nose, but not as badly. And it comes and goes a bit, and is turning into a bit of a signal to me that I've overdone things.

I thought the Enbrel wasn't working to start with, but on week 12 it suddenly started to work. Hope yours kicks in soon.

Fed up of been house bound with my bloody hip and not been able to do much in my home, thank god for this forum where people understand where we coming from, thank you! Wishing you a healthy and Happy Christmas :-)

Hello Angelmar, just read your post, been having trouble posting this, reckon I've gone computer stupid. About your Cimzia, I was on Cimzia for 3 years and have been off it now for 1 year, Cimzia is worth persevering with as this year I have had to be off it has gradually got unbearable with pain. I did find I was very suseptable to infections, whilst taking the fortnightly jab mostly urine infections, but after a recent bloods showed I had positive T.B decided to stop taking it Cimzia does take about 3 mths to show improvement and same when or if stopping it so hope you get better and it helps you as much as it improved my pains. all the best bluetit33

Hi bluetit, I've been taking cimzia for 9wks and I'm not gonna say it's brilliant yet!! As the rhumy nurse said it could take 12wks before it kicks in. I have had really bad sinus congestion a week after I started it and lost my smell & taste, but I'm persevering with that! I got a decongestant and steroid spray as well as penicillin off doc, but was told to hold back another week for the penecillin.

Did you show positive for TB before taking cimzia? Thanks for your very informative reply. 🤗

Hello Anglemar, yes I had 6mths treatment before I was able to go onto Cimzia, so was surprised to get a positive blood reading, so now not sure if the cimzia has actually re-awakened the T.B or if I shall always show as positive even tho' had treatment. are you on other meds as well as the cimzia? By the way do use the decongestion spray for a short time, as it can cause nasal over sensitivity When I get sinus congestion I steam over a bowl of menthol crystals, it works really well. Hope you all had a lovely xmas despite pains.

Hi, no not on any other meds, only the cimzia.....and yeah doc did say to only use decongestant for 1 week, unfortunately nothing worked even the steam inhalation and nasal douch, so on the penicillin now, thanks for the great replies! All the best to you for 2019 x

Thats very kind of you, thank you. Have a wonderful and healthy year ahead.

Penicillin is quite a strong antibiotic. Your doc recommended that to you?

I personally am a favor of more natural methods of medicine such as supplements and vitamins. Been taking those

Hi, me too! But nothing shifting it! "not sure the penicillin working either!!" While on penecillin I'm also taking a pro biotic sachet to put the good bacteria back in my gut to balance things out! 🤗🤗

Am glad you checked it out ))) The health benefits are amazing. What I did was to search for some vitamins or supplements which contained Andrographis. Luckily I have found one, and it has no artificial ingredients added and it's been great

in reply to strong19

Been having a good read on this Andrographis, and it’s says best avoided if you have Rheumatoid arthritis as it can cause the immune system to be over active therefore making the condition worse, so I think I’ll pass on this one, thanks.
