Travelling with injections

Hi, we are going on a well-needed break. I need to take one of my benepali injections with me. Am I able to travel with this on the flight? Do I need to advise anyone that I am travelling with injection pens, and finally does anyone have a suggestion on a cooler case? The flight is 8 hours. Thank you in advance.

You must take them with you on the flight, they mustn't go in the hold. You don't need to take any complicated refrigeration as once out of the fridge just need to keep it under 25 degrees and use within 4 weeks, so a small cool pouch will do. Helpful to have a letter with you that explains that. I have a doctor's certificate that says they must be with me in my handluggage.

Thank you so much, did you get the certificate from your GP or consultant. Mine is delivered via health care at home, did you contact them for a letter, i know you can speak with the pharmacist there?

When I was in the UK I got the letter from Healthcare at Home, as I got my drugs from them. The HAH letter said the drugs couldn't go through the scanner, which was a pain as meant I had to leave an extra few minutes for the security check. So I phoned the drug manufacturers who said that was baloney! I've taken the drugs throuh the scanner ever since (maybe 5 years) with no problem. I take MTX and Enbrel, but I imagine Benepali is the same.

Hi Ouchyjenna

Health care@ home will send you a letter to put with your coolpack in your hand luggage and will also recommend you a cool pack to purchase.

Remember on return when the coolpacks have melted they will contain liquid and this cannot go in your hand luggage so on the return the used coolpack will need to be put in your suitcase.

The important thing is not to re refrigerate jabs once they have reached room temp.

Have a great time.

Amazon do a good selection of Insulin mini cool bags (about the size of a spectacle case) which I brought for my holidays and my Rhumi Nurse provided me with a letter.

Hi yOU also need to email the Airports you are flying to and from. I had an awful time coming back from Barcelona because they didn't know I was bringing back Gel freezer packs in my suitcase that went in the hold. They said I should carry the emails with me next time I travel.
