Like many (I suppose most of you) I am experiencing awful pain in my feet, knees, one shoulder and my hands. After 3 years I have just been told I have been granted the funding for benepali injections. I just wondered if anyone has tried using a tens machine to ease the pain?
Wishing you all some pain free time

Hello Amanda, I use the tens machine but not on my own, it's part of my physiotherapy (once a week or once every other week depending on my pains). However, what I noticed is that tens machine only helps with my lumbar and neck pain, but no with the shoulder or knee pain. Of course, it helps because at least I can forget of some of the pains for a while.
In any case, I think you should consult with your physician because using it by yourself you can worsen the pains.
I borrowed a TENS machine from the local pharmacy for a couple of weeks to try it out. Then they took the money I had paid off the price of the machine when I decided to buy it.
It helps mainly with the sciatica that I also get. I also use it if I have localised pain, for example, in my costochondral joints either side of my breast bone. It came with instructions for the various positions and pain.
I have had a tens macine for years now, just a small one from lloyds, but it does the trick when my painkillers struggle to cope. I use it mainly on larger joints, shoulders, knees etc. I found that once you get the positioning of the pads right it really does help. Overall, a very worthwhile investment for a few pounds.
Many thanks for sharing your experiences. I have now ordered one from Lloyd's pharmacy. I am hoping to use it when woken up at night with leg pain and can't get back to sleep.
Hope it gives you some relief Amanda. I use mine mainly on my hands and bought the conductive glove which spreads the charge. It's been a good investment for me.
