Reply to Plaquenil. I took it for over 20 years. I believe it was the cause of my gastro (IBS) problems, I Had to go off because I failed my eye field of vision test. Consequently my gastric problems went away a few months after stopping the Plaquenil. I have also taken Enbrel, Humira, Remicade, Simponi, Methotrexate, and currently on Xeljanz. Each one acted differently. I believe the plaquenil was the most helpful but it really gave me GI troubles.

Plaquenil and RA
I been taking hydroxy for approx 2 years and suspect it may be the cause of my stomach issues. I've stopped taking aspirin and naproxen, which has eased my acid reflux but it's still troubling me . It is helping with my RA but I've recently started a new med, which is also working for me so I think I'll be asking my rheumy about stopping, or at least taking less hydroxy when I see her in October.
When I started taking it, I developed severe gastric problems. Turns out to be lactose intolerance which had been mild enough not to really be identified before taking the hydroxy.
Rather be lactose intolerant than have the joint pain...
Hi there, I was taking Hydroxychloroquinene and recently stopped due to a severe itching problem. I’ve also not had a gastric reflux issue since I stopped taking it. I’d assumed the reflux was due to something else, but apparently not! So, I guess I’m agreeing with you on the gastric issues, cheers Deb
