Experience of meds?

Hi, I'm new here.

I had been taking methotrexate tablets for my RA but it wasn't suiting me and my consultant has asked me to consider Leflunomide or Sulfasalazine.

I have the hospital info leaflets on them, but I am interested to hear any personal experience feedback re these drugs. I hope some people can help.

Thank you

Barbara.

Hi Barbara I was on Methotrexate for over two years and fine then started to feel ill for about 4 days after taking it. Was then put on to Leflunomide and again great for two years then night sweats and fatigue were awful so stopped. Took ages to come out of my system before side effects stopped. Just had a hip operation and have only been on Sulfasalazine for three months but joints not so good. Everyone is different and what suits one person might not be good for another. Trial and error hope they work for you.

I've been taking LEF for 4 years its put the RA into remission and life is normal. On holiday the previous two weeks nobody believed I have RA. I've had a couple of minor flares due to being stupid but easily treated with steriod (short term). I feel great but LEF did make the pain worse for about 2 weeks then the cloud of fatigue lifted and I've never looked back. Yes its agressive but no problem as I had an operation last year to straighten my left foot and remove the bony overgrowths so pretty feet now go dancing again too. You'll hear horror stories quite rightly too but we're all different and all you can do is try one then the other. And don't read the PIL !
