Hi

I have had this condition for 9 months and have been treated with methotrexate and prednisone but the mxt made me lose hair and didn’t actually seem as though it was working. I’m now on chemo and have my last dose next week but again still unsure whether it’s doing anything. Still having hair loss and pains in legs can’t walk far. Is anyone out there with same condition?

I think with your condition you may find you'll receive more replies on the Healthunlocked Vasculitis UK forum it being vasculitis related. This is the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society forum & whilst autoimmune diseases do cross over I don't recall a member here with Takayasu Arteritis.

This will take you to the HU Vasculitis UK forum healthunlocked.com/vasculit.... I hope they can help you.

Hi Julesbanks,

As NMH says you would be best joining the Vasculitis forum on HU.

I also have Takayasu Arteritis, I've joined this forum too as I find it helpful.

If you want to either post your question on the Vasculitis forum so the guys over there can help or PM directly I don't mind.

Dear Julesbank,

Loss or thinning of hair is a known side effect of mtx, but it grows back when drug is stopped. If you have Takasayu's vasculitis, there is a book written by Sheri Lyn Schwar entitled "Vasculitis: Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired." Sheri discusses her personal experience with Takasayu's- a very good non-fiction read. You should be able to get it from Amazon.

BTW, I have been on mtx; my hair has not fallen out, but it is thinner.

I wish you good luck. I imagine with Takasayu's, you are young?
