I started with leflunomide about 2 weeks ago with prednisone and my bowels and heart burn are making me question why I am taking them. A storm came through yesterday and my whole body hurt. Can't figure out what to do.

Having problems with my meds.
Call your doctor and explain about your problems. Don't think it should be that severe. I felt a little sickly but nothing more.
Good luck x
It can take time for your body to adjust to the drugs, and I know you were scared about starting them so that won't help. Constipation and heart burn are quite common to start with. Drink lots of water, and talk to your GP about whether you need a stomach protector.
This is a difficult time, but once you find the right drugs for you it will improve so try to persevere.
Hi, Yes I have taken this medication and I had terrible side effects but then I have really bad side effects to most meds. I am having Orencia injections not sure if they are helping. I live in Canada now and it has been a very cold winter. Most of my pain is in my hands wrist and feet. The rest seems to be ok. Everyone reacts differently to meds. Good luck sometimes it can take a while to get use to a medication.
Leflunamide is well known to cause bowel problems - the reason why my rheumatologist didn’t prescribe it for me as I have Lymphocytic Colitis.
Clemmie
Pred was giving me heartburn so I was moved to the coated version 'enteric coated'. That may help. Also I take my Pred half way through my breakfast, that way my stomach is nicely lined.
Can't help you re leflunomide as I take MTX.
I stopped taking Leflunomide It caused diarrhea
Now i feel like my whole digestive system is upside down. Dr. said to stop taking it I feel awful. I wonder if I will ever feel normal again. Of course Dr. is out of town.
