Travelling with meds

Hi, I'll be flying to Lisbon early next month and I have all my meds to take along including my tocilizumab self-administered injections. has anyone travelled with the injections before? Do you know if a letter from the doc will do?

Hi-- I travelled with mthx injections. I had a letter from my consultant and carried them in my hand luggage. Hope that helps.

Thanks jack. I was told that the injections can't be away from the fridge for more than 8 hours. I've got a fridge bag and a letter but being a biologic drug I hope it's enough.

door to door, my travels take approximately 24 hours. So far, humira (one of those biologics) have been OK.

I travel quite frequently, bringing along meds. Humira is the most tricky, as it requires to be kept cold and hand carried - probably similar case with tocilizumab.

I always carry a prescription and a letter explaining the need to hand carry. I must say that I have never had the need to present either docs fo the security staff.

But the plane crew occasionally asks a lot of questions before agreeing to put the meds in the plane ref - the letter could come in handy at those moments.

Bon voyage!

That's great news. Thanks.

I travel regularly, backwards and forwards to the Middle East with Humira injections. I haven't had any problems so far, but always carry a doctors letter in both Arabic and English, along with my injections. Clemmie

Hi if you are supplied by bupa (still nhs but on contract) if you ring them they will send you a covering letter which planes and security are happy with

Thanks. I am not supplied by bupa as I am on a medical trial that's why I'm a bit more worried but the ra nurse will write the same as bupa letter.

I have flown with enbrel on a 10 flight so with airport time and travel time at destination it was about 15 hours in total. I bought a travel medi porter from health care at home, large medical ice pack that lasted all the journey. I also emailed my flight carrier to say I was taking sharps on board and they wasn't classed as part of my hand luggage allowance. Also the cabin crew was happy to supply ice if I needed it

Hi all and thank you for your replies. just a quick question, did you dispose of the sharps on destination or did you bring them back home?
