Hi, I am new here and was diagnosed in January. At that time I could hardly get out of bed and had to roll, crawl and push up to do it. Now after being put on MTX 25mg, Hydrox and pred I am much improved.
I find it hard and still panicky about what lies ahead for me but am trying to stay positive. My question for you lovely people is my lovely man and I like to dine out and drink wine. How much alchohol do you think is safe to drink? The doc says half a bottle a week. I feel like my life has been turned upside down and this is one of the few pleasures I have. Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thank you and best wishes to you all.

I’m on 20mg Mxt waiting to start a biologic soon. I can’t tolerate going up further with mxt and tried supha hydroxy and lef but unable to tolerate these.
Regarding alcohol I was advised no more than what is recommended daily. I think 2 units for women.
My experience I don’t have wine that often but when I have been quite unwell and my bloods went out of zinc but others tolerate it quite well so it depends from person to person.
I would try it yourself and see for yourself and see how it goes.
Hi! Y'all are so lucky! My doc says if you want to go wine tasting/holiday parties, skip the mtx for the week. I don't drink except socially or when my husband has a day off and we can spend it in bed....which means no mtx that week.
It's nice to hear that the combination of meds is working for you! That's something that may or may not last for a while so I say tread lightly. I've read posts about certain meds/combos losing their effectiveness after years. Of course, everyone is different. You've got a good thing going right now...
I personally wouldn't do anything that would be more taxing on my liver. Baby it as much as you can. I can't tell you how many ppl couldn't stay on a med bc it was too toxic for their liver. As this point, you are doing great... Why risk it?
Those are just my thoughts. Of course, the decision is yours and wish you all the best!!
