Enbrel to Benepali

Having had RA since 1986 Enbrel has been my wonder drug over past 12 years..Now to soon swap to Benapali I dread what lies ahead..

There's a recent thread on this Julie which could help? Can't see it at the mo sorry but type in Enbrel biosimilar in run search option. Personally I'm very anxious also about my own med switching to biosimilar. I've struggled and gone so downhill on anti TNFs in recent times before my present med being very stable that I am loathe to tweak anything now I've good and stable 3 years, and risk any more severe immobility and joint damage. Thank you. I have just rung Rheumy nurse to ask if can stay on Enbrel as I only take 25mgs per week. I mix it and do not want prefilled syringes. Awaiting a call back

In Benepali's defence it has exactly the same active ingredient as Enbrel which is Etanercept and has absolutely kept me stable without flaring ever since I was swapped this time last year.

On a completely personal note I do relate to your concerns when any medication is fiddled with as it were. Especially when something is so crucial to your well being and holding disease progression at bay is so vital.

Whatever happens good luck but if they do make you switch try and stay positive.

I thank you for your reply. They are going to swap me..But I am trying to reverse that decision . I am only on a half dose per week..I mix it still..I do not want pre mixed. I had it once and it caused me to itch. Just awaiting to chat with my biologic nurse again..
