Having just reapplied for pip, my initial award not running out until June 2018, what happens next?
I mean this in so far as, if I had an assessment and they awarded me different award from initial award, how dies this work? Do you immediately start getting the new award rate , cancelling out what's left of the initial award ( nearly a year)? And what if you're awarded nothing? Even though you have said year of initial award left, do you get nothing from that point or is the initial award allowed to finish ?
Hope that makes sense!!

basically what you have said is correct, any new award would begin from the date of the new decision, no matter how much you might have left of the old.
This they say is because they would have assessed that your needs have changed from the original decision.
All you can really do if the new award is less than the old, is to request a mandatory reconsideration and if that fails, appeal
Yes I get what you say. Any change in your pip will start straight away and backdated to when it was applied for this time. Any pip 'left' for the time when it expires, i.e. 2018, is not used and a new expiry date should be given. If you are awarded nothing same applies I think. Your benefit will stop and expiry date is not relevant. Hope that helps! Nightmare PIP! Hope it goes well for you. X
It can work in your favour! Just had my year early review no face to face just the new review form. I have had my award extended from 2018 to 2019 . So go with the flow....
Hi Eiram, I've just sent off my review form, like you mine was due to finish July 18. It's now that horrible anxious wait again whilst someone decides if I'm still entitled to it. I don't know what I'll do if they refuse it, it keeps me in work and helps out a lot, I'm very grateful for it and don't want to lose it. I'm sure I would end up costing more to the system if I lost it...but who knows?! It seems to be the luck of the draw as to what length of award you get!! Good luck x
Yes too much of 'luck of the draw'. I was unlucky with my assessment but I took it to tribunal and got the highest pip on both counts. Plus the judge said it was unnecessary for me to be reassessed. But the DWP sent me letter saying despite that they would reassess me in 2024 just in case I was not getting getting my full needs! As I am on highest level I won't be assessed and get more it can only go lower! I am so grateful for that panel of judges. But luck of the draw again. Not fair.
