Got my "Decision" letter yesterday after 6weeks wait from face to face assessment. Even tho they acknowledge that I have deteriated in two years since awarding me standard living allowance they have kept me on the same allowance. AND even tho I meet the criteria for enhanced mobility (which I never received before) I cant get it as Im too old (Im 66yrs old) the law states 65 is the cut off point & the courts agreed it isnt ageism. So Ive missed out there as there is nothing else I can claim as being disabled - cant get mobilty to get parking nearer to Hosp, shops, Docs etc., I will appeal the Living Allowance decision tho. I just think what was the point going thro all that when the outcome has remained the same as 2yrs ago even tho Im a lot worse physically.

Try getting a blue badge you just need prove your disabled. Your dr. can do this for you. You go through your council if i remember right.xxxx
Hi Martinlady. As I understand it you can only get PIP if you are under 65 years old - unless you have been awarded that particular payment before that age.
Over 65 the benefit to claim is Attendance Allowance which is relevant to anyone over 65 with a disability.
Don't know how the sums compare but as Sylvi says it is certainly worth applying for a Blue Badge anyway as you can get that even if you don't get any other benefits - as my cousin did.
Hello Martinilady. Re the above comment, if you do decide to apply for Attendance Allowance please, please, please get some help filling in the form. It's a horrendous document and 95% of applicants are turned down. A social worker friend sat with me for THREE HOURS when I applied on behalf of my mum. But I was successful and the money is not taxed or means tested so it is worth it. And you are entitled to this help if you need it. Good luck!
I already get Living Allowance standard rate for the last 2yrs but I was recalled to be reassessed. My RA has progressed but I am 1 point from enhanced. Ive had no problem filli g in th forms they now say I am too old at 66 to be a new claimant for Mobility.
