Hi all
A quick question. I've had aggressive RA since 2013 and this week have been diagnosed with Lupus and I'm telly struggling with it all. Should I inform DWP of the change in my condition ?
Thanks
Trish.

I'm sorry to hear that Trish, what rotten luck. Anyway, as you've longer than a year to run until you'll be reassessed & if you'll fit the descriptors that you didn't previously then it may well be worth considering. As I guess you'll be able to provide new evidence now you've confirmation of an additional diagnosis then yes, I would. After all if your circumstances change you've to let them know so that accounts for both positives & negatives & yours is negative because I would think you'll have other difficulties other than your RD now. It'd show them if your mobility's affected won't it (not that I'd wish it on you but you know what I mean!). 😉
Thanks NMH. I can't believe I have another thing to cope with ! I have a letter from my consultant who I saw on Monday. It details everything about my illness as she always sends a copy to me and my gp.

Oh what rotten luck!
Is it drug induced lupus? Or another type?
I would think it well worth it to contact DWP, though I suppose they might make you have another face to face.
Thanks for your reply. It's not drug induced. It just came on before Christmas and has continued to make my life a misery ! I won't go out because of the rash right across my face. Feeling lost and very down at the moment.
That's grim. Sorry to hear that.
I only asked because certain drugs cause lupus.
Hi again
Yes I know the consultant explained to me and she said abatecept wouldn't cause Lupus and that's what I've been injecting and taking mtx.
What kind of lupus are you diagnosed with? When did you start with abatecept? Asking because have a friend in a very similar situation. I hope you will feel better soon.
Hi thanks for your messageI was only on abatacept for 3 months and before that I was on enbrel. My RA is very aggressive.
Thank you for your reply. I am sure your doc has checked this out but it turned out that my friends lupus was induced by abatacept. She had also recently changed meds. Her doc said it was very rare. Here shmabstracts.com/abstract/c...
Sorry about your knew diagnosis. Let's hope you get sorted soon.
