MRI scan.

2012 I caused damage to two of the disks in my spine, since then I have had 2 MRI scans and a bone scan, since then I have been referred to many departments to treat the severe pain in my back but to no avail, my last appointment was with a surgeon specialising in back injuries, I took with me a copy of the MRI reports but because he operates in a different region he cannot access the scans, my next appointment is at a hospital in Nottingham but the scans were done at a Lincolnshire Hospital. Is their any way that I can assist in ensuring that previous scans are available to him.

Thanks for your reply, I need to allow any consultant to view the MRI scans to view as an x-ray and not just a copy of the report, is this possible.

Thanks for your good advice, I will contact PALS asap, do you think I will be expected to pay for this service, and a ball park figure of the expected cost.

I think we paid about £10 for my xray results. but it won't be a silly price.xxxx

I had to pay £25 for a CD of all my scans. Took about 10 days to get it, so don't leave it to the last minute.

Thanks for the information.

I think your GP can request a cd of your scans to be sent directly to you your new consultant, you can talk to GP Secretary and ask them? It then shouldn't cost you anything.

Thanks for all the good advice, I contacted PALS at my local Hospital they were very helpful and suggested that I contact the Hospital where my next appointment is and request them to obtain copies of Bone/MRI scans via the "IEP" system, provided I can supply dates of the scans and where they were done they can access all information. I have done this and have been informed that all of the information is now available and that the surgeon will have access to the information on my next visit, at no cost to me. Thanks again.
