I had a depot methylprednisolone a month ago. At the same time I started 10mg of leflunomide. I felt fine up until last few days. First I got stomach problems, and now I seem to have contracted hip bursitis! I would have thought the steroid would have prevented the bursitis?
I don't know. I developed very painful De Quervain's Syndrome (inflammation of the tendon sheath near my right wrist) just after a Depo shot. Like you, I thought the shot should have protected me against any kind of inflammation, but when I mentioned it to the rheumatologist at my next appointment, he said not. After weeks of physio appointments, I ended up having a "tiny" (according to the physio) injection into the tendon which resolved it within days.
You have my sympathy. I've had a bad flare which seems to have subsided after some prednisalone but now I have hip bursitis too! Can't walk without a lot of pain. Can't do my Christmas shopping. I'm having an injection on Monday I hope it helps!
