Hi all. I had my steroid injection 2 weeks ago, but it has given minimal pain relief. Can anyone advise if there is anything else available for pain relief, do i need to contact the rheumatology team? I am already taking naproxen and co codamol.

Thank you

Penny

Hi Penny,

I'm afraid the steroid injections never did anything for me, I've always been so jealous of the way they seem to work brilliantly and give relief to so many.

Oral steroids did work however though it's best to only take these for as short a time as possible.

My GP also prescribed Tramadol for any flares I might have.

Good luck I hope you become pain free very soon.

I'm sorry the steroid injections didn't work for you. I am on the opposite side of the coin than you. The steroids worked for me pain wise....but I had a rare side effect of hearing voices... So needless to say I was also unable to find pain relief on steroids. I hope they find you something to ease your pain.

This happened to me so I now take pred tablets instead. I don't think they're good long term and i take a calcium supplement too. I wouldn't manage without them though. I'm starting Benepali injections next week so I'm hoping that I can come off at least some of the cocktail I take!

Maybe you could try tablets instead..?

Hope you get it sorted xx

Acupuncture has really saved me. It does not work for everyone but maybe worth a try. Also for moderate pain I use Tiger Balm, the white one not the red one. And if you try it don't buy a cheapy version as it has a lot less active ingredients hence it is cheap. You can get it in Boots. A combination of Acupuncture and T'Balm has meant I take painkillers once in a blue moon.
