I recently had an ultrasound guided steroid injection into the bursa. Omg it hurt for two days and then i was pain free for a week. Now pains come back worse than before. Anyone else felt relief for week or so?

When initially diagnosed, I had oral steroids and injections. If I ever felt relief at all, it was at best, for about 3-4 days!

Hoping you get something sorted out that works for you a bit better x

Im due to start biologics in few weeks but this is ridiculous. I know for many ppl it works wonders but my body seems to hate any kind of meds whether oral or injected. X

Hopefully, you’ll have more luck when in the biologics x

Hope so too. How are you getting on? Are you meds?

I’m ok. Nothing had yet got things under control and I’ve had numerous joint replacements in the space of four years. I’m in on Friday to get the first ankle replacement - they’ll do the other 13 weeks later. I have RD and AS so it’s been difficult to slow things down to a place where there is limited damage

Oh no. I am sorry to hear that. I finally got diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis but im seronegative and all bloods are normal. Yet my knee, hand, ankle, elbow are painfully swollen. Wish it would just give me a break lol

It’s all trial and error, isn’t it. What works for some, does nothing for another. Fingers crossed, when you’re in the right treatment plan for you, that’s when things will become

Much better x

Are you taking any other meds?

No relief at all to hip injection in bursa...just horrid reaction to the steroid used ....which was supposed to be ‘safe’ for those sensitive to steroids!

Never again !

I find the pain comes & goes with no apparent reason.

Hope you feel better. The hip injection was great while it lasted but pains creeping in. Arghhh. Oh well.

The steroid shots worked very well for me. I have had three steroid injections in total, one in my left ring (mild trigger) finger at the end of November 2019, one in my left index finger at the end of January 2020, and one in my right wrist at the same time. Each time, the swelling and synovitis symptoms disappeared within 2 days, and so far have not recurred.

Wow. Im so happy it worked for you. Ive had it in right wrist years ago and three weeks i was in relief. But again very short term. My colleague had one in september and shes bouncing for joy. I guess it works for some better. Hope you get the relief you need. X

I’ve been on that one worked well for 6 months but wore off after that might be better for you,it will be a pen and nothing to worry about you won’t feel a thing xxx

Don’t worry about the needle. It’s easy peasy. Tummy is pain free for me. For weeks I used an ice pack to numb the area first. Then one day I was in a rush and went for it without icing first. Deep breath!. What a waste of time that had been. I don’t bother any more. Doesn’t hurt a bit. 😀

Morning. Thank you. Lots of great ppl have adviced meto take the needle out of fridge in morning so wont sting as much. Some have said its a needlev and others said its like an epipen. That i could handle. Not too keen on side effects if any. The dmards were awful.

Yes, give it a bit of time to warm up. I have mine out of the fridge for a few hours which isn’t really necessary. Then I pop mine under my arm for ten minutes before I inject. I count then. Anything up to 8 seconds. Before you know it, it’s done. 🙂 simples!. You don’t see the needle. There’s a clicker in the mechanism. Push it down, click, wait 6-8 seconds, click. It’s done. It’s a tiny needle which only goes down a little way. Now, I just stopped for a couple of minutes to read a bit and it could be a little longer. I think the nurse told me 10 seconds or thereabouts. I’m maximum 8. Don’t panic at the 8 seconds point because I said.

When I was diagnosed had an injection in my buttock to help - I thought I was cured it was amazing, until it all slowly came back after 3 months. I decided not to have anymore - I took prednisone instead for a short stint. Take it easy - Hessie ☺️
