My blood test indicates this is high. All other tests normal. ANA is clear. ESR and one other in normal range.
Is it possible to have RA without these other signs? I sure feel like I am living through a flare and have lived through a few others. My eyeballs are even dry! What is happening here?
What factor do you mean? If you mean CRP it is a little, but Just an very little higher. Nothing to be concerned of. But you better ask your GP or Rheumy.
I'm from Canada. The test was called Rheumatoid Factor and it came back 14 iu/ml and it indicated that was high. I haven't seen my doctor yet. So now I just worry lol.
I hope that is true. Still something is causing all this joint pain....heels elbows hips left shoulder big toes stiff hands body aches dry eyes ...and the stupid list goes on and on.
You can be completely sero-negative for both the rheumatoid factor and anti-CCP, and have low inflammatory markers, and still have inflammatory arthritis. A good rheumy should diagnosis on symptoms, physical examination, and blood tests. Blood tests alone don't give the full story.
I'm in UK and under 20iu/ml is considered negative for rheumatoid factor
Thanks for the reply. I have done a lot of googling. It seems that 13.9 is the marker point in Canada. Anything above that is high. So I just hit that marker. Not sure it's too relevant. I need to get some help regardless of what story the blood is telling!
Lots of things seem to mimic the symptoms of RA. If it turns out not to be that, check your diet - you could have an intolerance which causes inflammation. For example you could ask for a celiac test as this one of the common similarities. Also, I can't tell from your user name, but if you are female, hormone changes can also mess around with your system and create aching flare like symptoms. Good luck, hope you get it sorted.
Thanks. I will watch my diet. I am female. I have had lots of hormonal changes and dealt with all kinds of discomfort surrounding all that nonsense. My biggest complaint right now is that I can't lift my cup of coffee without pain in my elbows. I am using two hands to drink my morning beverage. Aside from ice, sports tape and wrapping my elbows, using my anti-inflammatory pills and taking fish oil....sort of at a loss for how to proceed to fix this.
I know what you mean about lifting the cup of coffee - I have to make sure my cups have huge handles so I can get at least three of my fingers through for grip! Keep pestering your doctor for answers...you shouldn't have to suffer. When tests came up negative for me I was at a real low but I kept going back and was eventually referred to an Early Athritis clinic, but only after damage had already set in to my hands and feet and had become obvious for the doctors to see. Now I am on meds which sort of work and keep me more comfortable, but I remember how not knowing what was going on with my body at the beginning was so debilitating. Keep going back until you get some answers. In the meantime, this site is great for sharing your problems and feelings - I wish I had found it 8 years ago when I was first diagnosed. Wishing you the best of luck.
Hello ! how do you feel now after 3 years ? I think I have this RA, hand pain .. they thought it was lyme since RA came negative but I am sure something is wrong. What can I expect ? miserable life ? thanks.
I live in Ontario and I have checked my results online. I did not know underror 10 was normal. I thought it was 13.9 . Snap!
That makes sense! I will try to listen to my body....sure hope the medical.people listen to me!
Thanks Braecoon...turns out 10 and under is considered low in Ontario and so 14 is considered 'hi'. So the numbers are a little misleading. My joints seem like tendonitis problems to me. Heels, elbows, shoulders and hips all with tendonitis at the same time, lol. Hopefully there is a cure floating around out there somewhere!
Well it is confusing. I might also have another word for it😇
