Just started cimzia

Hello everybody this is my first post here. I was diagnosed with RA in July last year. I already had osteo arthritis but when RA started completely different. I was referred to a specialist who quickly put me on methotrexate and hydrox. This worked well until January this year and started to flare. They then started me on Cimzia. I have had the three double doses of it and it has helped my hands work better although I still have stiffness but pleased I am able to do more with them. It has made no difference for my elbows and knees. They have told me it could take up to 12 weeks to benefit but wondered if it has helped my hands why not the others. Am I expecting too much too soon. As I am new to this any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

I started on Cimzia in Feb this year. Unfortunately I haven't noticed any real improvement in pain relief. The only thing that appears better for me is that the fatigue is not so debilitating certainly over the past couple of weeks.

I haven't had any horrible side effects and no site reactions with it which is great but I just wish it had helped with the joint pain. I did have a swelling under my arm however, they are still not sure if it's the Cimzia causing it or not.

I am due to see my consultant on Thursday but suspect that I will be changed onto a different Biologic.

I hope things continue to work for you ☺

Hi Sanbanan thanks for your reply. Sorry Cimzia is not working for you. I guess we are all different I may be expecting too much so soon. I have not had any side effects up to yet hopefully it stays that way.  I am waiting for appointment to see specialist to see what they say. Hope all goes well when you go.

Give it time. I noticed a gradual reduction in symptoms as I carried on with the Cimzia injections. I became largely syptom free over 12 weeks.

That you are seeing improvement already is encouraging.

I hope it continues to go well for you.

Hi Cecil,

Many thanks for your reply   it has given me a boost to know that you are doing well after the 12 week period.  Guess I will have to be patient and see what happens. Hope you continue to feel well.

Hello Calph, I started on CIMZIA about four years ago and am still on it. For me it has been a blessing. It enabled me to get back control of my life. It probably differs from person to person as to when the real benefits kick in. Give it time. I hope it will work as well for you as it did for me. I just spent a week in Cornwall and two weeks in in northwest Scotland and the outer Hebrides. I don't think that I could have done this without CIMZIA. All the very best.

I know they say 12 weeks but sometimes it can take longer, patience is definitely a virtue in this game ! Xx
