Hubby had a funeral this morning at Nuneaton crem. so i got him to drop me off in town. I hired one of the big scooters from shop mobility and off i went. Got a new lens for my camera and a new handbag(of course i needed a new one didn't i) and i also got some glitter pens for my colouring and didn't buy any more books as i have enough now as it is. Anyway heard from hubby to say he was on his way so i took the scooter back and went out to wait for him. It was like switching of a light,my energy just went and i struggled to breathe as well and i just felt pooped just like that. So when i got home i sat my botty down and i am not doing anything else today.xxxx

I know that feeling, I have done nothing really , hung some washing out. Spoke with a nurse for 1hr and done some tests, she also took blood. Then took my dog out for his walk, he walks I rides on my scooter. Done lunch and sat down to eat it , cooked pancakes that we never had yesterday. I was in too much pain then. Entertained my sister-in-law for 1 1/2 hrs. Then i got dinner ready and put that in a slow oven so i can sit down yet again. Have got terrible back pain and it feels as if I'm being given a bear hug at this moment. So yes i know what you mean, i have still got to dish up dinner, and clean kitchen after.
Sending you hugs and hope you recover fast.

I love those scooters, I use the one in my local Sainsbury. And everyone needs a new handbag.
Had to resort to getting a mobility scooter to go to the shops after nearly getting myself run over by not thinking road because I was just concentrating putting one foot before other to get me home. Mind you although I feel an idiot it is so much easier and pain free.
Hiring one again Saturday as I need to get some tops! Also a lot of supermarkets let you use them ! X
If you join shop mobility you can hire one of theirs and you can go all over the town darling. It is a six pound joining fee and depending on which scooter you hire they cost around three pounds a day to hire. The one i use is a four wheel one and it costs three pounds. You can use it while the shop is open and they don't shut until three or four in the afternoon. I used one this week when i went and it was bigger than mine and i felt safer as people can't knock me so easily when i am about town. So check out your local shop mobility store darling as you will have more freedom .xxxxx
our town shopmobility is £25 a year limitless use. if you go to the next town (same council) it's just £1 per use extra.
( wrote this a few years ago and it is still as true)
I've started using my own scooter while out. I've decided that it's a positive step as -
I can be out for a bit longer;
I can get further;
the pain is less;
more quality time with friends as I'm not struggling to breathe/move/keep up;
I get to be out where life is going on;
I meet nice people who smile or pass a moment [eg "cold today"] or ask if I can reach;
I'm acknowledged as a person - not invisible, I exist!
I get to be independent.
I know there are negatives but they're the same as everyday when I'm on my crutch [es] so they aren't botherable [ I just made that word up! ]
try the scooters out in supermarkets first. I hope this might help someone.
regards,
hamble
That is so lovely. Yes i use stores scooters if i don't take mine.xxxx
Hi Sylvi
After my disastrous Christmas & New Year I bought myself a new handbag to cheer myself up. Isn't it just amazing how it works?
It's good that you are so upbeat. It's easy to say you should pace yourself but there are times when you just have to go for it and sod the circumstances!! We all know that you end up paying for it but it's also good to just go for it.
I hope you're feeling better now you're losing weight as well.

I usually have a shower in the morning but decided to have a bath today (which I haven't had since well before my knee replacement last September). I'm wishing I'd stuck with the shower. It finished me off before I'd started!
