A friend of mine had very high calcium levels because of a problem with her parathyroid glands. She eventually had two(I think) of them removed and after lots of blood tests, hospital visits and adjusting of her medicines she is now on the mend but she was quite ill for quite a while. Too much calcium definitely isn't good for you.

Is this from just the one test or have you had a few showing higher levels Rosedale? Thing is it's not always a good indicator if it hasn't been tested more than once as it could be due a few things, one being being dehydrated on the day the test as taken, as it was with my h which is unusual for him as he drinks far more water than me. The test was repeated & the second test showed low. Just waiting for the results of another blood test to see where he goes from here (the first two were taken in hospital before his second iron infusion & also resulted in a magnesium infusion too.

Did whoever gave you the results not suggest a repeat test? I hope so & you've no need to worry.

Good that you have a date for a second test, see what that tells you and then you can go from there :)

Ok, that's good you've another test booked, it doesn't seem overly above but it's natural to be concerned, I do understand. Until then I'd try not to focus on anything you've read in the negative if you've been searching online, there's much more in the negative than positive as with most things & only knowing part of the reason for requesting it can send us into a spin at the best of times. Did whoever requested the test explain why it was needed? Try to look at it as being thorough.

Hi,

I have high calcium levels and the dr stopped the D3 calcium just last week after several blood tests. I now just take vitamin D and will have another blood test in about a month.

Hope everyone is keeping well and looking forward to the nee year.

Are you on vitamin D3 rosedale ?

If so, be aware that too much D3 can cause high calcium levels.

I had my parathyroid removed due to high calcium levels apparently one of the parathyroid noduals was turning too much protein into calcium.
