Hi, I was told that its been taken off the market and no longer available. My GP prescribed me an alternative (naproxen) which just isn't doing it at all for me. I'm due to go to GP and ask for something else xx

Morning! Diclofenac sodium (the most usual form) is currently unavailable from most suppliers. I work in a pharmacy. We have been able to obtain diclofenac potassium which is a bit faster acting and our local GPs have been happy to alter prescriptions to this form. Might be worth asking your pharmacy whether they can obtain diclofenac potassium instead? Good luck! Teresa

Hiya Bev. It seems that there's a supply issue of the generic form but your GP should be able to prescribe diclofenac potassium or Voltarol, the original licenced form of the med, though both are more expensive so you may be prescribed an alternative NSAID. Diclofenac is no longer available as an over-the-counter med but is still available to prescribers though there is concern over it's small risk of causing heart issues, similar to the COX-2 NSAIDs & why it's no longer available to buy.

Hope this helps.

Yes I have I still have prescription so try every chemist as I drive past them - did try the alternative Naproxen - it was absolutly rubbish I got more pain relief on paracetamol.

I was told yesterday to try a supermarket chemist or boots as they have different suppliers...

I'll let you know how I get on

hi, I had a problem last week getting diclofenac from asda who told me that there was not any in the country due to a supply issue! I phoned around and sainsburys and boots both said they have no problem getting it as they use a different supplier,

asda were very rude and were not helpful at all so will not be using them again,

all the best

pete

Yeah you can't get that good stuff over the counter anymore. Have to go doctors. I asked my rheumy and she prescribed me some. I don't use it that often so it'll last a while.

What I got was called Fenactol Diclofenac Sodium. Maybe I was lucky then? Only got it a few weeks ago.

Hi

I work in a hospital pharmacy in the Lothians. There are manufacturing problems just now and we are not being supplied, so I imagine local chemists are in the same position.

It's an anti Inflammatory

It has been taken of market as it was killing people-------
