More steroids...

Last week i was at the hospital to see my rheumy nurse. She has upped my steroids to 10 mgs for two weeks the 7.5 mgs for another two weeks then back to my usual dose of 5mgs. I am now waiting appointments for a second opinion and one for the pain clinic. The steroids are starting to kick in,but i am not out of the woods yet. If i do too much i will suffer. Hugs for all.xxx

Yes it is and you know the trouble that comes with it,i start to do things then i suffer darling.xxx

Thank Alannah, the steroids are starting to do their job thank goodness. I still have a way to go,but the good news is i am getting there.xxx

Hi Sylvi I was also put on steroids by my rummy Dr he started me of on a two cycle 15mg then dropping down to 12 1/2 then 7 and lastly 5mg by this time the pain I was in was very bad. My gp said to me I should not have had a big drop per mg and should have in fact dropped by 1mg per week this gives him a clear picture as to when the pain starts I feel it will be when I get down to between five or six if it safe for me I then would like to stay at this level. Good luck to you and I hope you find the level that helps you soon but be careful about dropping down to quick.

Today I saw my Consultant and he is putting me on Steroids too, 7.50mg. He will have me back in 6 weeks and will adjust them if necessary. What I want to know is what will happen if I don't take them (I'm terrified of putting on weight as I have been plagued all my life with weight problems and have been at a comfortable weight and want to stay here) and just stay on Tramadol? He is also putting me on Vitiman B and Calcium too.

I know some of you will think I'm being silly about the weight thing but I have difficulties with depression and if I was to put on weight I will be tempting fate......I don't need depression AND RD.

I have been on 5 different Bio's where I have had no relief to 100% remission......I am unable to go on anything else now except Steroids as I'm Sero Negative and can't take MTX.

You need some sort of help and if your very careful you can still stay the same weight. I can't get off them. I usually take 5mgs a day and i am now on 10mgs and i have to say they are making me feel a lot better. xxxx

I haven't this time Jean,but five years ago i put on four stone in as many months. This time hubby is managing my diet and he is good at it and though it will slow down with the extra steroids it is still coming off.xxx
