Yep, been there, done it worn 2 plaster casts!! I ruptured mine & it's still a little iffy from time to time but fortunately doesn't give me too many problems otherwise.

Has your Rheumy suggested anything to help you physio wise to help strengthen it? Maybe that would help.

Hi yes I have had a lot of pain and when I saw my GP she told me to look on you-tube for exercises and follow them......... also she told me to wear heels and not flat shoes !!!!!!

I damaged my achilles many years ago and was told by my then GP to go and lose weight and they will stop hurting. After many years of pain and when I was diagnosed with sero neg RD in March this year after feeling unwell for sometime and a scan done of my achilles, I was told that there was a lot of scar tissue on my achilles which are severly ruptured and nothing now can be done. Gentle hugs Joolz.x

Ye couple of ops but they seem ok now tho hubby says when I'm tired he can tell by my walking... Well I did the ballerina cast post for long enough but I have had less pain and problems since the ops. Xx

Have constant heel/ankle problems due to walking oddly making my ankles over compensate for my knees which have been problematic for years and only just improving, but my consultant will not allow a scan and got really horrible recently when I asked for a knee scan due to lumpiness/tendon pain still behind one knee and so I dare not even consider asking for my ankles scanning. I have pains in the calcaneus/under heel which make it very painful to even put the feet down and ligaments all connecting in the same area pulling including the achilles. I can and do sprain my ankles on a daily basis which is crazy as my RA is quite controlled at the mo but I am still hobbling. I have found since my swelling and inflammation has gone down now my med is getting the RA under control, that my newly skinnier feet are more painful on walking and standing up. Guess the lack of padding round the joints is presenting a new kind of problem. Agree absolutely about needing heels and not flats. I am always better on a heel of two and a half inches. Any more than that or less then not as comfy. Unfortunately most shoes are either stilts or ballet pumps. Thank goodness Clarks have their Unstructured range as they have a good semi-orthotic/inner sole. I am going for ankle traction which worked before for me and also to the podiatrist.

Just wondered as my tendon snapped on holiday! Had op in menorca and dr reckoned it was to do with my knee replacement and years of steroids weakening it. My RA had caused some swelling around it. Had 20 staples in not fun having them out! Not quite healed though so now into my 3rd week without humira injection which I take weekly! Fortunately I have moved in with my mum and dad till i can at least walk upstairs as they have a downstairs loo and they are looking after kids and doing everything so not flared as yet. Maybe leflumonide is doing a better job than I thought! Didn't have to purchase any drugs though cos all my rheumy drugs covered post op prescription! Defo found a small heel more comfy on my heel but killer on my bunion! I hate shoe shopping but love shoes! Sorry to hear you other guys have suffered some of the pain but glad I'm not the only one if you know what I mean!

Poor you. I had a bilateral knee replacement which has been amazing both my knees were bone on bone though so had no choice other than to have them done together. If you are in constant pain I would push harder for them to sort it as it is not good for your body in general. I can not praise my rheumy dr enough she is fab and a fellow sufferer so knows exactly what's what. Hoping that now my Achilles has snapped the pain will be better once I recover!
