week in August......shocking!.....I know I have ANA strong positive but turns out the RA factor is negative but after coming on here and having sound advice I challenged my GP who is to say the least a nightmare and demanded an ultrasound and more blood tests.....so glad I did ....it was no doubt the biggest hissy bitch fit I had in front of my GP and threatening legal action, which now proves that I know my own body and its telling me something is wrong if you feel ill and no one listens do not just accept what your GP has to say they are not always right and in my case turns out i have kidney cancer a 4cm mass to be exact inside my 6cm kidney , so it will be removed in the next 3/4 weeks. I had simply listened to sound advice on this forum, did more research, and self diagnosed a high probability of renal cancer, as a strong ANA is one of the symptoms, so thank you to all that took the time to reply to me as I have a hard time ahead of me as my recent ct scan showed a tumor in my uterus ,also as much as the consultant does not think it's related I have yet to find out if that too is cancerous, and finally in August I will hopefully get answers from the reumy.....jeez i'm exhausted.

So sorry to hear about your cancer. My daughter had kidney cancer, discovered by chance after an xray for gallstones. She had the kidney removed 3 1/2 yrs ago, so far so good!.

Do hope all goes well for you. M x

Hi M, thank you for your message did your daughter have chemo after the surgery ?

Hi Marushka - so sorry about the cancer and very well done for sticking to your guns. I had a very large cyst on my kidney that they examined last year when doing ultrasound of my gallstones - but after about 30 minutes of prodding they said they were sure they had seen something that confirmed it was benign. This wasn't very reassuring to me at the time but it is interesting to learn from you that a positive ANA can be a sign of kidney cancer because mine was negative earlier this year as are all my renal tests.

I do hope the surgery goes as well as it possibly can for you and that your rheumy appointment is a good and productive one. Best of luck!

Hi Twitchytoes, thank you for your message and yes I researched the many reasons behind the strong positive ANA, so I knew this was kidney cancer before my gp and when I met the consultant who specialises in kidney cancer, he was astounded as to how accurate I was with my theory and findings right down to me telling him that I believed I would have to have a radical nephrectomy, turns out that's exactly what he will do,now my new GP has found 2 lumps in my right breast, but you know what I need to lose weight anyway and if the breast needs to go so be it at least i can have a boob job and have pre baby boobs again lol. xxx

Hi Jeanabelle60, thank you for taking the time to message me, I appreciate your good wishes ,it seems that I am being rather greedy or just have rotten luck at present as yesterday my new GP found 2 large lumps in my right breast so it's all happening, visit to the reumy, gyny breast clinic and having my kidney removed I swear I will be a size ten yet lol, I have been quite teary the past few days and I am annoyed at myself for being so, but it is tough keeping up the positive attitude all the time but my sense of humour will get me through this and i'm ballshy enough too , i'm a survivor me, life may knock me down but I will keep on getting right back up. Once again thank you.xxx

Listen, we all need to have a good cry now and then, never put yourself down for it. from the sound of you you certinally are 'ballshy'. i know its an old cliché, but it will pass. we all know nothing stays the same.....that applyies to the awfull times too. you are a very strong woman, an inspiration. keep in touch with the rest of us on the site please. Good for you for demanding more tests to get the correct diagnosis- I know from experience doctors don't always get it right the first time. Good luck for the operation and treatment. Take care x

Hi francherry, thank you for your kind wishes, I hope all is well with you and thank you for taking the time to message me as I really do appreciate it,the great news I have today is my cancer has not spread to my lymph nodes or to my lungs so I feel very blessed this is the case, I had a meeting on Fri with a new gyny to discuss the 4 cm tumour in my uterus all in all he was hopeless, i'm now asking for a second opinion as he is insisting that my pain is coming from the kidney cancer which the consultant who is going to remove my kidney has insisted that the pain is most definitely not, either way i'm at the stage were I will no longer tolerate being treated as a person of no consequence, therefore I might just have to have a few more hissy fits and continue with the threat of legal action to get the medical care I deserve. x

Hi Marushka, I'm ok thank you. Glad to hear that the cancer has not spread to your lymph nodes or to your lungs. It definitely sounds right to get another opinion. It does not inspire confidence when medical professionials disagree. You're right about deserving better medical care - keep pushing til you get the full answers. Take care x
