Health Care at Home - Being left without drugs again, arrrghhhh.

I should have received my supply of enbrel by Royal Mail yesterday but hey ho it didn't arrive. Today HAH just phoned me to tell me that they cant make a delivery this week as they have no ice packs!!! I have no medication left I am due to inject on Saturday and HAH say they cant deliver before Tuesday. Why doesn't somebody sort this incompetent company out or the NHS terminate its contract. Since last November this company has failed to meet its customers needs, excuse after excuse, no contact to organise supply, I have to ring myself, every delivery being a day late and now this is moving to a week late. Hopefully I wont have to miss two weeks of injections as I did over Christmas and New Year; bet they are still charging the NHS for drugs they dont supply.

After hearing my anger and suggestion that they could go to any supermarket and buy some ice packs and still get my drugs to me for Saturday, the caller said he would call me back again after speaking to someone else. I will let you know if they do. I am not holding out much hope and will be contacting Quality Care Commission to complain. Does any body have an update as to where investigations into this company have got to.

Have you contacted your own hospital and told them about what is happening to you? My hospital is monitoring all our complaints and if we are short of the drugs and they don't arrive from HCH on time, we have to contact hospital who will get in touch with them on our behalf.

My delivery came today but it was late. They said they are tied into a contract with the delivery drivers than they cannot get out of! Apparently, mine was late because their fridge broke. I am sorry to say that I don't believe their excuses. That said, at least they delivered them this time. I have spent days waiting in for absolutely nowt.

You should let your rheum clinic know what's going on, in case they aren't already aware. I would also contact my local MP, let HaH feel a bit of pressure.

They wrongly delivered £3k worth of drugs to me after it had been discontinued which they knew. I complained so bitterly that they accepted the financial loss and didn't charge the NHS (our tax money!) - how good of them, eh?

Sorry for the rant. They really get on my wick. This is the last thing ill people need. :(

I live out in the sticks nowhere near a refrigerated van delivery route hence my drugs are sent in freezer boxes via Royal Mail. I have just had a call from HAH who said that they will delivery my drugs sometime tomorrow in one of the refrigerated courier vans. I'll keep my fingers crossed to see if they make a 60-100 mile diversion off their usual route. Maybe I am just being fobbed off until they get some more ice packs next week. Its not as if I can pop into the hospital for a jag in the meantime, thats a 100 miles away too. I have made a formal complaint via email to HAH, they haven't replied to any email I have sent previously. I have also filed a complaint form with the General Pharmaceutical Council. They had carried out an investigation which made recommendations for improvements and they will be doing a follow up in a couple of months.

I would get straight on the phone (or email) to my MP if that happened to me, and also the PALS or hospital complaints person.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. When I informed my rheumy nurses they asked me to come to the hospital where they gave me some spare injections of embrel to tide me over until HAH got their act together. Are you able to do this? .

Not easy as the hospital is in Glasgow a 100 miles from where I live. I'll ring the rheumy nurse on Monday if drugs haven't arrived by then and see what they can do.
