Help getting pip
I think they make up their own rules. If I was in your position, I'd let my MP know how long you'd been waiting, and that the system really isn't working for you.
Do you know who delivers the assessments in your area Capita or ATOS, I've heard reports that Capita are slightly quicker!!! I've now been waiting 39 weeks it's a joke, I knew it would be a wait but seriously didn't think it would take this long has been stressful :(. I ring every 3 weeks for a progress report and the generic reply...however it was only from ringing that I managed to get a cancellation assessment appt! I'm sure they do it to put people off applying.... check out the Yourable website too for tips, help and others application stories when applying for pip. Good luck, hope you hear something soon x. Lovely pic by the way!
Hi Laceygreen.
I am also waiting for my assessment! for PIP, my paper work is with Atos, i put in for it last October, i phone ATOS last week and they told me they are starting to send letters out to the ones that have been waiting along time so fingers crossed! as for time limit there is not one as they have a back log as well as the new claims. but it will be back dated
Hi, if you are on Facebook have a look at ESA/DLA site. You have to ask to join as they obviously want to maintain as much privacy as possible from the public. They have files for PIP and other benefits like ESA. It's a forum, but with answers from people like legal reps etc who are closely linked. The site is brilliant.
Good luck with your application. Vonnie x
Oh it can take months as yet know. But if you are awarded it you will get a lump sum back payment from when you first made the call. I put mine in last month and was told it would be 26 weeks before I go for the interview. Just make sure you keep all letters you receive as evidence to take with you. As treatment symptoms are up and down like a yoyo
I waited 12 weeks for assessment to be told it was cancelled on arrival for appointment I told then I would wait to see if anyone did not turn up ,I had my assessment 14 weeks later results turned down 2 points short told I had arrived by taxi unaccompanied even though I had a driving licence that has been suspended due to medical investigations , I live alone and have no escort I am now asking them to look again and appealing told it could take 12 months to 2 years but if successful I would get back payment .I told them but what if I have one foot in the grave , I need help now
Did they turn you down for both care and mobility if you don't mind me asking...there's people on high rate DLA driving alone and there must be with PIP driving and having to travel alone also and you've had your licence suspended for medical reasons...the decision seems harsh? Hope they allow your reconsideration, but is it for PIP or ESA, I thought that was the whole point of a Personal Independence Payment to pay for taxis etc if you're unable to drive? Good luck! X
I got turned down for both and the reasons were silly they just twisted ever thing I said I was told I could walk unaided into the centre I could stand and sit unaided even though I had a walking stick told to get lighter pans when cooking and I could walk into my doctors even though I travelled there on a mobility scooter they did say I had weakness in my legs and could only walk limited distance they have a answer of there own to every question it feel like someone else had the medical for me lol
That's awful must have made you feel like rubbish, did you see the BBC News tonight about the ESA Assessments? Good luck with your reconsideration I really hope you get it overturned. X
I haven't been through PIP yet but my goodness I think the government should be ashamed at the treatment of us with disabilities. Why don't they move onto another minority group for a change lol!
Beautiful children, they look so happy, thanks for the picture , it made me smile x
Yeah, like their buddies the tax dodgers!.... Oh I forgot, they're already taking measures to sort them out aren't they LOL!
Benefits & Work website is useful.
I applied for PIP in September and went for an assessment beginning of May but I am still waiting to hear back from the assessment.
I applied for PIP in Sept last year and still waiting for ATOS to come back to me with an appointment, they also told me in March that I would be receiving a letter in the post regarding an interview, but I still have never received anything. Personally it's a waste of time.
Write to your MP they will chase it up for you.
Hi I waited 10 mounths for my dession wenI it came bk I was two points of from getting pip then I received next stage the call bk I told them were I was not happy for zero points they told me get ra doctor in writing to confirm it so I did and nx dession they left it how it was what a joke they told me aswell it was not point based in assiment wen it clearly is now I'm waiting for a tribunal correct I've gone to cab for help people beleve me r . a suffering are getting discriminated in pip they are been realy tuff with us its a joke and disgusting and we are gonna suffer anyways good luck to everyone
the same is happening to me how long did it take for them to look at it again? I told my mp and they said you should get it if you appeal what a mess its making life very difficult for loads of people that need help
The Governments failed delivery of ESA Assessments on BBC News tonight, nothing about PIP though can't understand why it's not mentioned?
Hi, I'm new to the site but have just received my first pip payment! I applied in November... Demented them with a phone call a week got a cancellation appointment for late March... And like I say just received my score....so it seems its luck of the draw who you get for your assessment. I went armed with the latest letter from my rheumatology doctor to my gp...and my gp's printed out list of the medication I'm on...I feel a little guilty now that mine has been done :-\
I see now how lucky I am, it was a cancellation that I got so giving them a call never hurts ....my assessor asked loads, I was in for over an hour..asked me how my daily life was affected...and asked me to be specific...I would definitely advise writing stuff down before you go in...my memory is shocking and I would never have been able to remember everything...towardsvthe end he asked to see my movement..so the usual bending over and arm lifting...or lack of movement as the case maybe...its basically the form that we filled in but with much more detail...lol I don't know how helpful that was!
