We love Whitby, look forward to coming again sometime, we live at Weston Super Mare but it can't compare with Whitby.

Yes I will, my sons when they were young were filmed in Whitby on Dalziel and Pascoe a BBC cop show! Obviously the one called foreign bodies set in Whitby with a Dracula theme! This weekend has been goth weekend, it's always a lovely site with thousands of tourists dressed in beautiful costumes.

Only caught some of it as had visitors. Saw the bit looking for jet & the old building they saved. Will have to catch it on iplayer. I have long necklace strand of Whitby jet & ebony that was my nan's. Dad was a rep when I was young & covered that area, he used to stay at Robin Hood's Bay further down the coast. It was always one of his nicer trips he used to say as he had good digs (b&b for those not from the NW)! Fancy the fish & chips too!!!

The magpie cafe is the most famous fish and chip place there tho, queues all the time

Is that the one that was featured? If so my husband's aunt & uncle (from Yorkshire) used to go for a week a few times a year, rent a holiday cottage in Whitby & specifically to go there to eat, more times than was good for them!! They also always brought back with them bags of crabs claws too. They were yummy. But then I got a sudden onset allergy to red shellfish (crab, lobster, prawns & such) so could no longer eat them.....damn!

No they featured the quayside fish and chip shop. It's quite new but in that awful tidal surge last year they were flooded out, good to see them running agin. One thing, never tried crab! It's on my to do list!

Can't recommend it highly enough, especially Whitby crab, so you're perfectly placed to try it. Can't believe you've not had it, elevate it to the top of your list immediately!!!! Not at all envious!

I was veggie for 30 odd years, doc made me give up as he said it wasn't helping my health, I was anaemic, now I think it could have been RA , however I try bits of fish now!

Ye I thought my diet was fine but once the doc said family pressure took over! I don't eat that much, but when ISEE crab I always wonder what it's like lol
