Rotten cold
I was told not to take any over the counter medication for colds and flu, I would contact your rheumy team or GP to see what they say on it. Hope you feel better soon.
I think all that's in Lemsip is paracetamol? If so, and it should say on the packet, then should be fine. however, as ever, always best to phone your helpline/nurse. I swear by night nurse myself, which also has an decongestant in it, and never seems to caused me any problems but then I seem to be ok with most drugs.
Thanks guys. It as paracetamol in it plus: Phenylephrine, Hydrochloride xx
Call your local pharmacy they will advise you they are very good. xxx hope you feel betterxxx
Thanks Bazzypants! Lol loving the name! X
Ask your pharmasist.xx
Easiest way to check is to tell the pharmacist (the registered person, not the pharmacy assistants) exactly what you are taking and ask them to do a crosscheck for you.
I actually used to make my own "lemsips" with just lemon juice, honey, hot water, and dissolving soluble paracetamol in, plus a bit of crushed ginger (about 1/4 teaspoon) and it was easily as good as the bought ones, but I knew it was completely safe as long as I didn't exceed the daily limit for paracetamol.
I think lemsip have decongestants in them , if so and if you have dry eyes and mouth then stay away as the decongestant makes it worse otherwise ok I think.
Hi Lou,
Recently I was in the same situation, and with the same medication. I took lemsip and also made my own, with lemon, honey and hot water. As I have knee pain, my GP has advised paracetamol gel to be rubbed on, and paracetamol, two tablets four times a day. I've not had any adverse effects, so I guess the lemsip should be alright for you. XX
Not dumb at all .. have often wondered but never dared take it as didn't know what the phenyl hydro did or was! Feel better soon Lou. x
