I have just reacted badly to methotrexate because of EBV... Any others who have this and are on Leflunomide? Any advice please?

I have anti-CCP positive RA, recently diagnosed (Oct) and am now on steroids and Leflunomide... early days but hoping that my lymph glands don't swell up again this time.

There are quite a few DMARDS you could try

Talk to your RA Nurse, or Specialist.

You could ask to be included on BIOLOGICS although with these they prescribe a DMARD to go with it.

Wow - I thought all the answers would be here, not more questions! Epstein Barr Virus is EBV; ccp+ is more aggressive and damaging than -; but more than that I don't know!

Hi! I`m also dealing with EBV from my arthritis meds! First I was on Methotrexate for close to a year! I had to go off it because it was affecting my liver! but, felt bad while being on it ! really tired , no energy , etc!! I was off for around a month till my liver recover! And while being off the Methotrexate I got to feeling better! Then started on Leflunomide about a month ago! I started feeling bad again the same way! I called my doc and he ran some blood work and found that I had EBV ! so now I'm off the Leflunomide till I recover from the EBV! I have to get blood work done again in a month to recheck everything! Im not sure what my doc will do then , sense both meds were causing me to have problems with the EBV! Plus my liver lever was raised a little on the last blood test from the Leflunomide !!
