Hi all

Just a quick q. I had a blood test at the hospital after increasing my methotrexate. I have been trying to ring for the results but couldn't get through. Do they ring you if there is a problem? There shouldn't be but I wouldn't know as couldn't get through.

Thanks:)

Hi Kitty Kat , they will ring you if there's any problem , I was on mtx and got phone calls because my last two blood tests were showing my red cells were enlarged due to the mtx . Other than that I've not heard about any of my other blood results so don't worry they will call you or contact your gp , I'm having blood tests every 2 weeks at moment so I'm a bit anxious as well . X

I don't think it's acceptable to just wait to hear. Your GP should be able to get them. You need to be able to see what's happening.

Hello BOB here

Generally they will not call unless there is something wrong, So carry on.

Good Luck

I've lived in England and Scotland. In both places the GP receives the blood results and can view them on the computer. I regularly ask them a few days after the test if they will print them out for me. I now have a complete record of all my blood tests which I can look at prior to appointments. It does help to know what the various results say. To be forewarned etc. There is/ should be no charge for the regular printout and I do need to remind them. But it is worth keeping on top of this.

I don't know about the laws where you live, but in Canada we have the right to access our medical records at any time. I have taken it upon myself to learn what the blood tests are for, what the normal or expected ranges are. I have a standing order with my doctor to fax over all my monthly blood test results, good or bad, so that I can chart them and have a good understanding of what is going on in my body.

Just call Doctor and ask for printout of results, I get them as like Cathie I like to know as much as I can. They will definitely contact you if there is a problem though. X
