Red eye

It seems I have nodular episcleritis. Moorfields are taking care of me with steroid drops but it doesn't seem to be responding very quickly.

Does anyone have any suggestions for self help things that might work? I'm already on Cimzia, MTX and Hydroxy. Plus Celebrex for the moment with the eye!

Thanks!

With your eye stick to moor field treatment. They are the best eye hospital on the world so feel safe.

The steroid drops will help xxx

Thanks Allanah, I'm very confident with Moorfields. They've been very thorough. I just wondered if I could support what they've told me to do. It's so frustrating....

Thanks for confirming that's right. X

I know, eye infections du tend to be long and tedious ! But with the treatment and Rheumy getting your inflammation down it should all help. Did they give you a fast pass for the eye unit?

I didn't get a fast pass but I was seen fairly quickly, and fast tracked for the review on Tuesday. I have an outpatients appointment early in Feb so I'm sure it'll be okay soon....

If it doesn;t seem to be working, or feels like its getting worse, don't wait for an appointment, but get back to an emergency eye clinic straight away. You don't want to risk your eyesight.

Hiya - this is not an infection - it is inflammation like we get in our joints. I had/have it really bad and the consultant gave me a variety of steriod drops and the I got HYLO TEAR on prescription as well. It can be used all day everyday according to the consultant at the eye hospital. SInce I have been using it my sore eyes are much reduced! and before I have really bad red lumpy eyes 6 out of 10 days! Good Luck.

Thank you, everyone. I have had scleritis before - about 10 years ago. This is certainly different. It feels and looks worse and is not responding so quickly to treatment. Hey ho. It will go one day I hope. Time for another drop!
