Double Abscess with surrounding Cellulitis! Fed up and downright sick of RA

Hi all, just a little rant, sorry it's in New Years Eve but its driving me insane!

Well...... 3 weeks ago I started with an abscess on my stomach (about 1/2inch in size) and I did hot compress to bring to ahead but nothing happened it has just gone really really hard and purplish in colour. Then on Xmas eve the most searing (period like stabbing pain) spread along my abdomen about 6 inches wide and 3 inches long! I did just grin and bare it with my usual painkillers as it was Xmas Eve and i have 2 boys aged 4 & 5 yrs old, by the time Boxing Day arrived I was in agony and another abscess had appeared which was leaking a clear yellow fluid (just like MTX solution) so my husband and I spent 3 hours at the Walk-In-Center to be told I had cellulitis ( which I already knew due to my previous career in health care) and sent away with antibiotics and no MTX injection for 2 weeks! Well today the period type stabbing pains have arrived again but the walk in center is closed an I don't want to go to a&e as I don't feel it's a worthy "emergency". Just wondered if anyone else had any similar experience or advice? Thanks for taking the time to read and sorry to rant on xx

Hello Jillybean, Sorry to hear you're in so much pain, on this of all nights. I had cellulitis in 1998 and a friend took me to A&E as the pain was unbearable. The combination of a double abscess and cellulitis sounds very worrying. If you have been taking antibiotics for a few days and they do not seem to be effective (especially now that the stabbing pain has come back) I think you should go to A & E. Obviously it's up to you but if you are going to be in agony all night it might be best to go and see if there's anything else they can do. Take care x

Hi Jillybean, I know this isn't what you want to hear but I think that you really need to see a doctor. As the antibiotics don't seem to have worked, it may be that you need intravenous antibiotics and it's possible that the abscess may need draining. Believe me, this is a worthy emergency! Clemmie

I hope by now you have gone to A & E because this is really serious. Let us know how you are, lynda xx

Hi everyone, I eventually went to the G.P and he said that its clearing up and not to worry as it could take a while but there is no longer an infection, 3 more days of antibiotics and see how I get on with the pain x

Omgosh. The pic and everything you said is currently happening to me now. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow. I mean this stabbing pain I thought was a ruptured ovary. It is gross. It hurts and itches so bad.
