A Summer at NRAS

Hello Everyone

I have recently started as an intern at NRAS, working here over the summer before I go back to Bristol University to finish my Biology degree. I am busy learning about all the fantastic work that the charity does and it is wonderful to see how dedicated the whole team is. I have been put straight to work with some interesting projects, including designing a new leaflet for the Fundraising team and helping to update some information packs to help NRAS campaigns, and I am thoroughly enjoying getting involved in so many different aspects of NRAS’ work. I’ve come to realise how much work goes into running a charity like NRAS, but also how rewarding that can be.

This week we had a staff picnic at the park by the office; a wonderful spread of food was brought in and there is certainly enough left over to feed us all for lunch for a while. Emma, our Membership supervisor, was Gamesmistress and put on some entertaining challenges for us all, which involved picking marbles out of an ice bucket with just our bare feet, and had us all dancing Saturday Night Fever- unfortunately, I think there may have been a camera or two around to record the evidence as well!

It seems that as August arrived, so did the wasps, as we came under attack at the picnic and we’ve had a few invaders into the NRAS office in the last week, which have caused a fair bit of havoc!

Last weekend we had several people taking part in the Prudential Ride London 100 event. The day seemed to be a big success and is likely to be repeated next year - thank you to those intrepid cyclists who helped raise money for NRAS, and hopefully those aching muscles have now recovered.

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmth of a ‘proper summer’ – apparently we’re in for another heatwave next week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
