I often have bits peeling on my hands. I've put it down to the fact that I'm now v sun sensitive as a result of the drugs, and I often forget to put sun block on my hands (or wash it off). Generally I've found my skin much dryer, and I also often get cracks on my hands after bits have peeled which the nurse warned me to look after carefully to make sure I don't get cellulitis. So now I do try to care for my hands much more carefully. So while it might be accurate to say that it's not a drug reaction, I do blame them for the indirect effect (but then I do blame RA for everything...). Polly
I normally have very thick dry skin, when I'm on MTX it all peels off like a snake and leaves me with soft normal skin, about the only benefit of being on it I don't think it is a reaction as such, rather a result of how it changes the way your body works. xxx
Good answer dogrose.. mtx is used various skin conditions too including psoriasis mtx slows down the way skin"replaces" itself in psoriasis which is skin is rapidly "overgrowing"
I do but not on any treatment as yet. GP says because of liver issues so maybe that?
Both on my hands and feet but mainly on the joints. I am shedding like a snake
Have been on methotrexate for four weeks and have also now lost every hair below my neck and now hair on head has stopped growing and change texture and now thinning
