Continuous peeling skin

Today is a good day but look at my index finger, it is on my knuckles as well and only started a few weeks ago. Just wondering if it is because of lowered immune system.

I apologise in advance for my poor typing in some of my posts as I use auto type and do not know how to correct it.

Try moisturising cream...slather it on & find some cotton socks to sleep in.

If that doesn't help ask your rheumy nurse for advise.

It is also I. My nostrils and around facial area. I only wear pure cotton socks

Hello Minty,

I have the same issue of peeling with the addition of cracked heels. After having my shower at nights, I moisturise and then put on cotton socks. Before going to bed I also moisturise my hands and put into cotton gloves. I only manage to keep the gloves on for a very short time but it’s worth a try.

I treated myself to a pedicure about a month ago and the lady did a great job of removing all the dead skin. So maybe if you can tolerate this it may help.

As for the reason why this happens, I am not entirely sure as I have always suffered with dry skin, but it has definitely got worst with the onset of my arthritis and lowered immune system. I start biologics (fingers crossed) today. So I expect the peeling to get worse. But I much prefer the peeling than the joint pain 🙂 any day.

Keep moisturising.

I think you said you had circulation problems? This can cause skin problems as your skin is not getting fed properly. Is your circulation being treated by another specialist? As I'd tell them, or your GP.

I am under a cardiologist but GP says there is just too much going on, if you recall I only found out about everything falling apart five weeks ago or maybe six.

Helix you seem very knowledgeable. Are you or were you I. The medical profession, maybe forces or similar

No, but I am virtually the only member of my family for four generations who isn't! I grew up playing in hospitals and clinic waiting rooms so I guess I absorbed quite a bit.

I thought so. Same this way and mainly consultants but way up in the north in Leeds, well north from me lol

Nails are too short for a pedicure and certainly do. It need a wax lol

I recall trying a long time ago a hot wax on my hands and then they went into heated gloves. It was. It for pain but loved the feeling. Maybe I will hunt some heated gloves on eBay

had same problem for years after one episode of eczema on my palms and soles, after the worst cold ever in my life.,even though flare up was long gone and my palms were clear, soles remained like that.,normal moisturiser every night did the trick for 15 yrs.few years back after discontinuing biologics for AS had the worst flare up of ppps.after long trials and errors found out had to stop topical steroids and with alternative medicines got rid of it.,but still have peeling skin on my feet.so again same thing moisturising but more specific and stronger needed now (eucerin urea treatment or avene akerat)they peel and flake constantly, but sometimes barely noticable and other times quite scaley)even though only cosmetic issues and no other problems. point is in my case overactive immune system caused it.but it's always linked with immunity and bone conditions.best wishes and speedy recovery if it exists with skin and bone conditions

ps

i use foot file twice a week during shower,it gets rid of scales and flakes.,and use only painkillers supplements and exercise for my bone condition AS

And look at my cold feet on a warm day

that's in my case linked with poor circulation and reynaulds
